Overall food was pretty good. This place is nestled in a small shopping center in Downtown Rockwall. I went today(Sunday) about noon so line wasn't bad at all. Catfish was pretty good but the portion of shrimp I got for 10.00 could have been more than 5 small shrimp. Cornbread, Mac n cheese and greens was really good however. My only complaint, which is easily fixable and a suggestion to owner is this: Since this is primarily a catfish restaurant, it would be much better to serve real tartar sauce and not packets. You can give a standard 1 ounce and then charge for extra to recoup your costs. You can even add your own flair to it like have a spicy sauce and regular. I have frequented plenty of Catfish spots and it does make a difference.

Hands down some of the best catfish I've had and worth every penny! The owner and her mother and staff are super friendly and very sweet. Everything is cooked to order. Even my daughter that doesn't prefer fish devoured the catfish! The banana pudding was a hit as well. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

Excellent Catfish...Did not taste fishy at all! The Hush puppies and Banana Pudding were delicious also! I had the Mac and cheese..it was very delicious too! Its in the corner of the shopping center right off 205/Goliad. They have other dessert options as well. Make sure to check their facebook page for updates! They also cater and have a food truck for events! I Think this is the best catfish I have ever had!

I really wanted to like this place. It’s a hole in the wall with some charm which I can appreciate. But my shoes were sticking to the floor which was a little off putting. As for food the collard greens were my favorite. Catfish was good but slightly over cooked and heavily breaded. Same with shrimp. My wife said her shrimp and fish were rubbery. Tarter sauce was good. Staff was nice.

Pre-ordered a thanksing turkey arranged date and pick up time. I sat and waited for an hour and half. No responses to messages, voicemails or email. Very disappointed we won’t have this for our Thanksgiving meal. Thought they were good people. Service: 1

Wasn't what I expected for the portions and the price I payed. My simple order: "3pc fillet meal - mild." At least There could have been at least homemade tarter sauce and I thought a meal consisted of sides with a drink.... My fish portion was probably 1pc of fish cut in 3 strips fried rubbery, didn't taste the "mild" at all unless that's "the new word for SALTY" the fries were over cooked crispy crunchy. The micro hushpuppies were good only thing worth the star 🌟 ... P.S. they DO NOT have Jalapeños #gladikeephotsauceinmybag

Simply the Best Catfish and Southern Louisiana Cooking in the Lake Ray Hubbard area! Cross over Lake Ray Hubbard into Rockwall County and have a dinner that ain’t complete without a Banana Pudding and it’s homemade too! Z and her family are kind hearted and fun loving! Love them being here in Rockwall! Check Z’s out on Facebook and Instagram! But get there! I would advise you to place your order in advance. The food was well worth the wait. I ordered the catfish and shrimp in both spicy and mild. I preferred the mild. Others in my family liked the spicy best. The spicy has enough kick without ruining the taste. Red beans and Mac & cheese were flavorful and home-cooked style. My only critique is the sugar in the greens. I don't like the taste of sweet in my savory food.

Visited location for first time based on reviews. Called ahead to place take-out order of 8 pieces of catfish & 10 shrimp. Z's was easy to find with no parking issues. Fish & shrimp were packed in coveted tin foil tray with vent holes to ensure everything maintained its crispness. Filets were larger than expected, perfectly fried, not greasy and well seasoned. No additional sauce required. Disappointed we only got 8 shrimp because it too was delicious. Black eye peas had nice Smokey flavor but mac& cheese was heavy on pepper and light on cheese. Hush Puppies were some of best ever. Did notice the floor was a tad bit sticky because guy in line in-front of me at the register mentioned it to the cashier who acknowledged him with a shrug. Will return to try other menu offerings and hope they have fried corn and sweet potato pie next time.
