With a large kiln and sparse decorations, the owners are apparently focusing on the quality of bread. With denser, heavier bread, they may be attempting to emulate German bread, but using some local ingredients. Definitely better than local chain bakeries, but it would be nice if the bread was harder/drier and the crust more crispy (my personal preference), but the quality may be limited by the high humidity of Taiwan and the preferences of local tastes. On the plus side, it’s possible to taste some light sourness from fermentation. It would be nice to revisit the shop on another day, when there is a greater variety of breads to try out.
I strongly suggest trying out this bakery, as its flavour and excellence are incomparable! This is ideal for those with a preference for Western style bread, as it is not sweet as most breads typically sold. Be there early as most loaves are sold out by the afternoon. Wonderful bakery!
Delicious, fragrant bread with imaginative flavors. I love the simple, rustic interior too. A nice place to have a snack or light breakfast on a rainy day. It would be even better if they had better coffee to go with the amazing bread!
