Watson’s is on point and a regular date night spot and also a solid family pub. Service is always solid, food is excellent (hot fish is stellar) and they have an amazing selection of drinks. It’s a cute restaurant and right as you walk in, you can feel the lively positive vibe. The Carolina Gold fried wings is a must have!!! The taste is sweet and tangy with just a little kick of spiciness “similar to Asian sweet chili sauce.” I got Watson’s white chicken and the meat was juicy and soft but it wasn’t served warm. Ordered the dirty rice and fried chicken dish, to be honest, for $17 wasn't that impressed. The dirty rice tasted like box instant rice. The rice is also somewhat uncooked. I hoped for homemade, meaty and flavorful dirty rice. The fried chicken is good however, could be more generous in the serving since I only got 2 small tenders. Fruit rum slushie was good! Excellent bar and restaurant for some tasty chicken meals. Our service was a little spotty but in general it was a nice experience. We tried both the hot chicken and the white chicken, both were great. The highlight was our Brussels sprouts appetizer which was perfectly crispy and savory with a unique fluffy aoli. Ate at Watson’s tonight giving them another try. Last time I ordered a to go meal several years ago and was very disappointed. I wanted to give them another chance and was again disappointed. This is their “Spit Roasted Chicken” which comes with one side, $14. This is what I received. Burnt and a very small serving and the fries were obviously made earlier and sitting under a hot lamp-dried out, partially burnt and old. Steve ordered the chicken sandwich and coleslaw and was very happy with his meal. I tried, but seriously, I would be embarrassed to bring this order out to a customer. I was able to eat some of the chicken with plenty of sauce and about half the fries. I hate being that customer who sends food back if it’s partially edible but after thinking about it, I felt I needed to post. I know they have a faithful following, but Watson’s is just not for me! Probably the best restaurant in C-U and amazing to work with for private events. They catered our wedding and it was so smooth and quick. The food truck was amazing and was a very unique feature for our reception. I love this place. Can't recommend it enough!!! The Whiskey selection here is amazing, and the staff is knowledgeable and makes great recomndations. Wiskey pours are 2oz unless noted. Wednesday is the day to go with all whiskey pours half off. My only request is that they switch to whiskey/ large rock cubes for proper cocktails. Great food, ordered CHELSEA’S SHAMELESS PLEA with the glazed pork belly. Chicken was juicy, breading flavor was great, however it easily fell off the chicken. Waffles could be a little crispier for my liking. The apple compote adds a little bit the dish could be served with or without. Overall great flavor. Can be very busy recommend a reservation.
