Hello everyone, stopped to eat here because we haven't had checkers since relocating from Louisiana and wanted a taste, right off had bad service, stood at the counter for several minutes before anyone actually acknowledged me, made eye contact several different times still no one took my order, the manager came in and to tell the front counter cashier to take my order, and when I asked for fresh fries the young lady an attitude, smh I'm spending my hard earned money so I should get what I asked for, eat here at your risk, that was my first and last time, be safe everyone God bless God is Love
If you're looking for snacks, quick eats, clean bathrooms and a few Texas trinkets, this is your place. Yes, there's a Checkers next door, but the food selection is decent in the store.
There's also a few tables and chairs to enjoy your quick bites. I found the prices to be decent, so that's good. Oh, and the popcorn is good too.
I travel through Centerville frequently and I always stop and get BBQ at Woody's. However, today, I decided to try Checkers out. I started to pull up to the drive thru but there was a sign that said it was closed, please come inside. So, I backed up and pulled into the front parking area and went inside. Things looked a little off as I entered because people were clearly sitting, waiting on their food. This is about 1:55 so I did not expect them to be busy. Notwithstanding, the climate propmted me to ask the young lady at the counter how long the wait was to get the food. She clearly did not understand what I was asking so I rephrased the question and asked, "if I order my food now, how long before it comes out to me." She, seemingly more confused than ever, had to go ask the manager. Now the manager, from a distance, asked what I wanted to which I replied, I was just asking what the wait time was to get your food. The manager, making hand motions at me, said, "I'm training this one, and that one," as she pointed to the prep area and followed up with "they are new." Then making a hand gesture that it typically meant to indicate slow down and said "patience." Then I supposed she realized how rude she sounded and added "would be appreciated." I was immediately offended by the manager's attitude. I will not be stopping here again. Needless to say, I went across the street and treated myself to BBQ
This place is super clean. I enjoyed browsing and getting a bite to eat. I will make it a point to stop for fuel here whenever I’m in the area. Easy on/off interstate access.
Pretty cool spot to stop by on the way to Dallas from Houston on i45. This stop comes at a good time after Buc-ee’s. They have several good places to eat nearby including Italian, bbq, etc. They do have a Mexican fast food inside with decent selection but the portions aren’t the best with the price. I wish it was slightly cheaper. Clean restrooms, fairly priced gas.
I bought this sign but it cost me about $15. Could easily be cheaper.
Would stop again as it is easy to get in and out if i45.
Food is great but when you ask for extra onions or Mayo it's been disappointing. We stop here on our way coming AND going to Houston cause we love checkers! The service is good and the food is great!!!
