Stopped in for the first time while visiting Hattiesburg & had such a great breakfast!! Connor took great care of us & described the food perfectly!! Very cool diner, with a classic 50s feel. Excellent music playing while we enjoyed the butchers omelette & spicy buffalo hash browns. Both DELISH!! But the praline bacon was out of this world!! The food is good, but not necessarily something to write home about. The wait is longer than most and probably not really worth it for a diner. The issue is the service. First the good: food generally comes quick, it's hot, the portion size is ok(not good but ok), and the staff is friendly. Now....the not so good, the service isn't great. One cup of coffee with no refill, not checked on by wait staff during the meal. Just sort of so so service for a place with a 45 minute wait. For the record I'd still support this RSJ establishment but it needs a bit of work. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

I had heard such great things about this place I was a little disappointed in the food. The service was really good but my food was not. The eggs were so over cooked they were brown and my biscuit was hard. I do have to say my son had the fried catfish and liked it. Another good breakfast at The Midtowner. Whenever I’m visiting Hattiesburg, this is my Go To spot for breakfast. I’ve always enjoyed their eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and everything else. I had their omelet last time and it was excellent. This time I had their Avocado Toast topped with corn and feta. I liked it but not as much as I’ve liked their other dishes. The absolute BEST breakfast we've ever had at a restaurant. Everything was phenomenal and could not have asked for better, even the service was fantastic. Food came out fast but after we began eating we realized why. Evidently everything was precooked and had been kept warm. Pancakes weren’t warm enough to even melt the butter. The bacon was not warm and very tough almost like beef jerky. Eggs were good. Milk was GREAT! We’ve eaten here numerous times because we believe in supporting local establishments. Pleasant atmosphere, service was great. Food was good But I had the butchers omelet it was good but it needs toast with it and you have to order it separately. Wife had hardy breakfast it was good.
