This place was an excellent find. The atmosphere was hip while friendly and staffed by the coolest people we met in Hilo. They all took excellent care of us and demonstrated a mastery of their craft. We both felt really welcome here and ended up coming back a second night for my wife’s birthday. Don’t miss The Hidden Nēnē if you come to Hilo. 10/10. No question this is the coolest spot in all of Hilo. We had a blast here - cocktails are fantastic, bartenders are top notch, ambiance is excellent. We were just visiting town and made a point to come back every night we were in Hilo.

Chris was a great bartender, drinks were 10/10. Loved everything, even the build your own charcuterie board. This has been my favorite bar so far on the islands. Everything was equally as tasty. It was hard to choose a favorite! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

In classic speakeasy style this underground haven is an escape from the heat, the sand, and overly sweet fruity drinks at the hotel bar. If you’re looking for classic and modern cocktails in a James Bond hang out, Nēnē has great service and a cozy vibe. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Happy hour is epic and worth the wait. Drinks also worth non-happy hour prices all day. Tasted through the whole menu, each drink is so unique and well balanced. Hands down on par with best bars worldwide.

Prepare to be transported. After almost a year and a half of being home sick, The Hidden Nene made me feel like I was back in New York. The ambience. The food. The draaaanks! The bartenders. Plan to spend at least 45min-1hr here because all of the hand crafted cocktails take some time to arrive, but you’ll want more than one (although you might not need it). + Must visit place when looking for a good night out in a historic town. The owner and staff were approachable, attentive and professional. The space had a great feel. The vibe was there. Both drinks I had were amazing... the Cherry Bruh and the Tarta de Lima.
