I recently had the pleasure of visiting Food News, the latest restaurant to grace Negombo’s culinary scene. Despite seeing it during my travels, I finally decided to step inside and was delighted by the inviting ambiance it exuded.
👨🍳 First, let me commend the exceptionally friendly staff, especially the welcoming uncle at the entrance. From managers to cashiers and waiters, they all go above and beyond to ensure every customer enjoys a memorable dining experience.
🍛 Now, let’s talk about the food. We indulged in the Mandi Biriyani priced at 1090 rupees, paired with a Spicy Chicken Submarine, also priced at 1090 rupees. Our refreshing drinks included a delightful Fruit Current for 450 rupees and a zesty Lime Mojito for 350 rupees. Each dish left our taste buds dancing with delight, proving to be worth every rupee spent. The biriyani held a unique flavor in every bite, and the portion was more than generous. The submarine, accompanied by two sauces and cassava chips, was a savory treat. As for the drinks, trust me, I’ve sampled many cold beverages, but these exuded a premium freshness with every sip. The efficient meal preparation and impeccable presentation further added to the dining pleasure.

I recently tried a dish from the food news, and it was a culinary disaster. The flavors clashed like bitter rivals, leaving my taste buds in a state of confusion. The texture resembled a rubbery nightmare, and the presentation was a chaotic mishmash on the plate. Overall, it was a regrettable experience that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

"Walang Kuwenta" Just like Filipinos says.
The restaurant's setting is cool, surrounded by a calm atmosphere that got me excited. However, the experience went downhill. I ordered a chicken submarine, changed my mind in just two minutes, but they said it was too late to switch. Okay, fair enough. I stuck with it, and honestly, both the food and service let me down. My friend ordered the same thing and felt the same way. We've had better submarines for less money at other places. Seems like they have a vibe issue! 😏 The staff, especially the waiter and cashier, gave off some attitude. It almost felt like they didn't want us there. Not the friendliest experience, to be honest. Sadly, won't be giving this spot another try.

I have visited this place several times since its opening. Food was below average all those times. The place has an average ambience but serves the worst food possible.
And the entire staff except (1) serves with an unwelcoming attitude.
And the shop serves in a very biased nature, the table next to us was served with water and we weren't.
Today we ordered Cheese Kottu, unfortunately I have to say, I searched for the cheese and milk and it was very dry. Why would they call it cheese kottu.
I hope they'll try to improve, cause a business sustains on customer satisfaction not on their menu.
The only item worth trying would be their beverages, won't lie they were excellent.

Had an amazing time at The Food News.. The Submarine dish was incredibly tasty, and the prices were reasonable. Perfect for families, couples, and friends. Intirial just wow and The cozy ambiance and friendly staff made the experience even better. I need to go again and taste variety of food.. Highly recommended

Me and my friends ordered burgers and fried rice. The food was great for the price. The chocolate milkshake was also amazing. It is a great place chill out with friends or family.
