A central cafe with friendly staff and a great fun vibe. The cheeses scone was lovely, especially with the freshly made tomato relish. The small flat white was way too big for me so I suggest asking for a tulip if you want it strong! Great fresh baking selection! The people who run this place are fabulous… friendly, accommodating, just lovely. We were recently staying in Matamata for a difficult family matter and found this beautiful oasis of calm with lovely vibes, and great coffee and food as well. Let me be honest, I am not a big fan of Matamata but, I am a HUGE fan of this café. The Food, the Art and possibly most importantly, the Beautiful friendly people that work here who made our stay in Matamata feel like home and (like for reals) restored my faith in humanity. It's that good!! The cafe is gorgeous, the staff are gorgeous, the food is consistently good and the home roasted coffee beans are to die for. If you happen to end up in this town, go there! I walked in and asked the girl to make me the best ham cheese toastie. And she didn't let me down. Probably the best ham cheese toastie I have had so far in NZ. Lovely cozy small cafe. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This cafe is without a doubt the best thing to happen to Matamata. The flavour of the coffee will change your outlook on life. The atmosphere and friendly staff will raise your spirits and don't even get me started on the food, hoh! You will never want to cook breakfast for yourself again knowing it wouldn't even come close to tasting as good as their meals. I wish I could give more than five stars, thank you The Coffee Gallery! While visiting Matamata recently to visit The Shire, my son and I stayed right across the street from this wonderful cafe. We were up early-ish to head toward Mount Ngauruhoe to hike the Tongariro Crossing and needed a great breakfast; so glad we took a chance on The Coffee Gallery. We both had the pancakes and a pair of long blacks. While we waited we got to listen to the conversations as the town’s regulars came in for their regulars. A happy morning. The carb load from the pancakes fueled us sufficiently for the hike to the top of Red Crater. Thanks The Coffee Gallery, for helping us reach the heights! Much success to you and your fine café. What an absolute find in Matamata, best cheese & bacon scones!!!! Awesome service, yummy coffee, pot of tea.....perfect & the takeaway chocolate fudge!!! Hard to find a cafe who knows how to make a great Almond Latte - 10/10 to these guys! So happy to find this cafe in our travels.
