The Micheline Guide used to define two stars as a restaurant worthy of making a detour when travelling. If that still holds they deserve at least one as we made a 4 hour detour to eat at this amazing hilltop near private dining experience (10-12 guests max per night). The food was excellent and Jack managed to show the local fare at its best. One of the highlights was a local fern which had an amazing texture. I was also impressed by the wine pairing which again and again managed to enhance not only support the dishes. It was also great that they offered half pours for the wine tasting - which allowed me to stay sober enough to write this review… All in all worth the detour… Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A truly outstanding experience from beginning to end. Every single dish in the 12 course tasting menu was incredible. Flavours too delicious to describe, immaculately presented with imaginative use of fresh locally sourced ingredients. Genius wine pairing. The meal was phenomenal with service to match. The location of the restaurant can't be beaten with magnificent views of Ruapehu. The trip up to the restaurant, including a spectacular kayak, was a wonderful addition to the whole experience. I can't recommend the Chef's Table highly enough for a treat of a lifetime. We're still pinching ourselves! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The whole experience from start to finish was superb. From driving off the beaten track, the welcome from Sandy at the Cafe then the ATV tour with Mel and arriving at the top of the hill for The Chefs Table. Jack and his team were phenomenal and that is the best meal and experience all wrapped into one, that we can remember. Waking up to different weather and view and the breakfast capped off a truly memorable experience. Thank you Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Absolutely stunning experience, even the bad weather, rain and mud didn't detract from the Chefs Table experience and the tour of the amazing Blue Duck Station! We were here to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary, this occasion is something we will treasure for the rest of our lives. The food and wine pairing was exquisite, we didn't want it to end - even after 10 courses! The service was 5***** and staying the night in the beautiful accommodation up the top was the perfect end to a perfect night. Thank you for creating something that everyone in New Zealand should put on their bucket list, everything about the experience was so unique. What a wonderful way to showcase this special part of our beautiful country. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had the most amazing meal last night, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Chef Jack Cashmore and his team made incredible food, and the unique location on ‘top of the world’ made it all the more special. One of the best meals we’ve ever had, and highlighting locally foraged and sustainable ingredients in innovative ways. Unforgettable.

From beginning to end we were in awe of the Chef’s Table experience. The view from the restaurant, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and the incredible tasting menu. Highly recommend staying at one of the villas overnight and enjoying a perfectly presented breakfast the next day. We will be talking about our time here for years to come. Four of us enjoyed a not to be missed evening at this tiny restaurant at the Top of the World in Blue Duck Station. The safari trip up on an ATV is part of the experience. The restaurant is a newly built wooden construction built and owned by Jack the brilliant chef. It stands at the highest point of the station with a wonderful 360° view of the mountains. The 12 course degustation menu was created from local ingredients, many of them foraged, and every course was presented immaculately with extraordinary and creative attention to detail. The tastes were all remarkable - umami and saltiness; sweet and sour - and smooth textures mixed with crunch and pop. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with just the right level of attentiveness. We were able to walk around outside between courses and at other times watch Jack at work creating the dishes that he had so carefully curated. All in all a remarkable evening that beats any degustation experience we have had before. Up there with any Michellin starred restaurant anywhere. My wife and I went here for dinner and a night in a "cabin" for our Wedding Anniversary in January 2023. The staff for the Blue Duck Station that took us up were amazing, and then we got up to the restaurant and all I can say is just "wow". The staff at the restaurant were incredibly professional, the food was divine, the chef underrated everything he had prepared for us, but each dish was like a perfect little work of art. Thanks so much to the whole team at Blue Duck and the Chefs Table for making a special occasion for us in to a lifetime memory.
Simply magnificent. I rate this as the best meal I’ve ever had (even rivals Amisfield Restaurant in Queenstown). Absolutely world class team here, from the trip to the Restaurant location through to dinner service and the meal itself. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
