I really wanted to give this place 4 stars, but despite almost all food being home runs, they had 1 serious strikeout. First, the great - definitely order the chicken borracho. It was insanely juicey and tasty. Also, definitely order the cornbread. I've had Mexican cornbread at several places, and this is by far the best I've tasted. The Mexican style lager, East Lake, was a great complement to the food. Also very good was the salsa, plantains and black beans and rice. Now, the strikeout - the grilled ahi tuna. It definitely smelled off, very off. We sent it back. So, I have to say stay away from that dish. The waitress was extremely apologetic, and she did her best to make up for it. Problems happen, so efforts to make up go a long way. I will come back to this place despite the problem, and I still highly recommend you try it. Last thing - they have outdoor seating for summer. Great happy hour menu! Had margaritas, tried 3 tacos, 3 tamales all with awesome taste(chicken, beef and pork) and delicious. For appetizer we had the happy hour loaded yucca fries, and beef chilli so good. Amount of food was surprisinly lots. Next time we will order less for 2. Great service.

Amazing happy hour from 3-6 pm (M-F) with really good deals, if you're kinda broke this is a good place. Hard drinks and big portions for 3-6 dollars. Food is tasty. I was surprised about nachos and tacos were good. Not in the happy hour special but sweet plantains were exactly that I want them, soft and ripe. I had been wanting to visit Tacomida for a while and it did not disappoint! I visited for brunch last Sunday and loved their options. The chilaquiles were delicious, the eggs and steak were perfectly cooked, and I appreciated their willingness to make me and a friend some mocktails. So...I left my review from two years ago below so that you can see how this restaurant has gone down hill. We were ordering from them every Taco Tuesday, and we're GREAT customers, but it's time to stop and move on. I was disappointed when they began taking favorite tacos off the menu and nothing to replace them. We used to order their nachos which were good. Now, the nachos we ordered have a blob of meat on them and nothing more. Obviously thrown together for take out like the rest of their food. To be fair, it appears that their chefs care very little about take out and it shows by the poor quality of the food we receive. Tacos are cold and many times a mess in the box. We always order the Brussels sprouts which were awful this last time and always different. They were undercooked and under sauced. Again, they don't care about their take out service. When you pick up food, they never ask to include utensils, napkins...nothing. Basically you pretty much can't do take out here and get quality food. It's time to move on and find a new, favorite spot! Tacomida is not worth the stop...or...the money. What an absolute fantastic find when we checked out Tacomida tonight. The restaurant is clean and very comfortable. It is decorated In a very upscale way. We ordered many different tacos and all were fantastic. They are well thought out with complex flavors much different than your cookie cutter taco places. We tried their Margaritas which tasted authentic and reminded us of being on vacation. Tacomida was easy to find and has lots of parking right around the corner from the front door. I can't wait to go back and try more of their great dishes! We'll also be there for Taco Tuesday and their fantastic happy hour from 4 to 6. Right in the middle of downtown Shelton, this restaurant should not be a secret!!

Loved the place! Enjoyed the ambiance, the friendly staff, delicious drinks, and the food! I have had better rice & beans, so I wouldn't recommend that, but besides that, everything else was great and worth a try. Service Dine in Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have been a customer here a few times and I have had great experience however after recommending this place to my boyfriend & his friend I am utterly disgusted and shocked with how they experience was. While out my boyfriend texted me saying his friends had seen a mouse poking in and out a few times during the hour it was taking for the food to be brought to them. While he was afraid to speak up because they are black men ( we all know the prejudices that comes with that) they waited and kindly asked to speak to the manager about the mouse, she proceeded to laugh & jokingly ask if they had ever watched ratoutille. Instead of apologizing and making any effort to improve their service, the waitress and manager then choose to avoid the table. I am completely disgusted in the way this matter was handled. And in fact will never step foot nor will I ever recommend this place of service to anyone. And will go out of my way to tell everyone I know about this unprofessional poor customer service and clearly unsanitary place of business. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The empanadas here are legit! I got a beef and a chicken. Both seasoned very well! Perfectly cooked as well, not overdone. Would've loved some extra of the salsa Verde to dunk the empanadas in, but otherwise they were phenomenal!
