Cozy restaurant with tasty HK cuisine right in downtown San Carlos! The space is on the smaller side, with 6 tables indoors and 2-3 tables outdoors. The menu is pretty extensive with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. You can order at the table via a QR code or up at the front. Street parking out front and nearby, or you can park at the nearby free parking garage. Great place to get some homey Chinese food. Came here for lunch during soft opening. A little bit of a wait to get seated but their food was worth the wait. Tried their baked pork chop rice, pickled veg and shredded pork noodle soup, sparerib steamed rice noodles and salt/pepper chicken wings. All very tasty, especially the salt/pepper wings! The Japanese pork cutlet is impressive! Much better than many Japanese restaurants. And only $7.95! Other dishes we ordered are Chicken with Portuguese sauce, sizzling ribeye. Both very tasty. Qr code to order and pay before food comes. Options to choose different types of noodles for no cost. Also self service of utensils and water. Food comes out rather quickly. Super casual authentic HK style of food and snacks. LEGIT Hong Kong diner food in SAN CARLOS (of all things)! Could this be a sign of things to come? Will we get legit Hot Pot someday? Or real Vietnamese food?? Let's hope so. For now, WOW! Sunshine HK Cafe has excellent breakfast, quick dim sum, and the expected dishes. Be sure to check their online menu for the full list, and just ask if the outdoor seating isn't set up. It recently moved from San Mateo to San Carlos. I really love their Portuguese chicken with fried rice, and all their other foods are super good as well, i.e fried chicken wings, spaghetti. Came during the soft opening. Wonderful food, staff and owner. Flavors were on point and tasted like cafes from HK. Our daughter enjoyed the siu mai so much that she asked for a second round at closing, they were happy to oblige and that was very nice gesture. Will be back. Thank you, James.
