If you look for typical German food you will hardly find a better choice in ChaAm. This still does not make the food better. Smile. But we enjoyed what we had.
You will also most likely see a lot of local german speaking Expats. Food is uniting the community.

Is this pronounced suck or souk? Never found out. Schnitzel, bratwurst, goulash and the like - with fries or fried potatoes or spätzle. Very nicely cooked and good value, with prices from just B140 for a well filled plate. Menu is only in German but the friendly owner will help.
Food deserves 5/5 but we have avoided this uncomfortable looking place for years, until this year. We first turned up on a Thursday to find it totally full with jolly mittel European customers presumably enjoying the Thursday special as they are not as full on Fridays and Saturdays. Specials also on Sundays but we never found out what they were.
They are only open Thursdays to Sundays from 5pm. Presumably, they can afford to only open 4 nights a week because it is an open air “hole in the wall” type arrangement- with tables under awnings at the front, right on a busy, noisy street. Not sure I want to be sucking up all that pollution with my food…
[PS 2024: returning months later, the restaurant has doubled as the adjoining property has been added. However, still right on a busy road and still with many smokers.]
Service on the full Thursday - for over 10 tables mostly seating 4 - was by one harassed waitress. Semi-open kitchen at the back is tiny with 2 cooks. Everything is shabby but clean.
A small variety of sausages is available for sale: mixed slices, black pudding and dried. Unfortunately, there is no true German bread available in Cha Am since the authorities forced Sailom‘s home-based business to close down.
Great German food for cheap money, great staff, good service.

Ein tolles Engagement, man merkt dass es dem Team Spaß macht.
Ausgezeichnetes Essen und auch tolle Wurst zum Mitnehmen. Gaststätte bräuchte mal ein optisches Tuning. Werden häufiger Gäste sein.

Gulasch
Ein Restaurant, in das Sie immer wieder gerne gehen. Der Chef ist sehr fleißig und Marc unterhält immer die Gäste. Ein tolles Familienunternehmen. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, große Portion und guter Preis. Für die Thailänder können Sie bei Ihrem Nachbarn eine thailändische Spezialität bestellen und hier essen.
Ausschließlich für Raucher zu empfehlen. Das Essen war sowohl als auch preislich in Ordnung. Als wir Platz genommen hatten (und wir hatten schon den abseits stehenden Tisch genommen), kamen nacheinander 4 Gäste welche sich alle gleich stereotyp verhielten. Niedersetzen - Zigarette anzünden - keine Rücksicht auf andere. Habe den Platz gewechselt bis ich nicht mehr ausweichen konnte. Da es der Besitzer aber anscheinend in Ordnung findet (er war anwesend - auch mit Zigarette) werde ich dieses Lokal trotz des guten Essens nicht mehr besuchen.
