A sad shell of what Steak N Shake should be. This is the only store in the Denver metro area and what should be running like a flagship location is running like a forgotten business that has lost all hope. First of all, the menu has lost all of the selections it had 10 years ago, the parmesan fry seasoning... Gone... The Portobello Swiss burger... Gone... The patty melts... I didn't see them either. The restaurant used to have waiters but that is also gone, which made it a great place to have lunch, but the new in store kiosks for ordering miss what made Steak N Shake a great experience. The interior was beat down with tons of torn up booths and literal holes in the wall that concern me the location isn't up to code. The burger I got since my favorite burger (the portobello Swiss burger) is gone was the western BBQ burger, while it didn't fulfill my craving, it was a very good tasting burger. I can't speak for the milkshakes because I'm lactose intolerant so I just had a coke, the drink station was clean which very important to me so good job there. What made Steak N Shake special was the old school feel of the establishment, and the ordering kiosks destroy the suspension of disbelief and changes the restaurant's vibe for the worst. We never had Steak N Shake in Colorado until about a decade ago, and Steak N Shake was always a special thing for me growing up, because I only ever had it when I saw family out east. I would love to see this place change, and return to greatness but I'm just not sure if they have the money to, or if they even care to because it all feels so apathetic now. I hope someone who cares makes the changes that needs to be made whether it be the owners or the corporate for this company, it would be a real shame to see this location close too. Here at River point. I stop in before going next door to verizon. Nobody to be seen. It looks closed. So i go handle my budiness next door. Then come back. Still not a soal in site. So i go to the computer to try and order some food. Look through it a bit and realized that I only have cash. So i love over to what looked like a register. Stood there for a minute. Nobody came to help. The place looked abandoned. Rubbish all over randomly in piles. On the counters. I thought that maybe they had giveaways. Looked closer. Nope just bins of garbage. So i leave. Get to my car. Then decided that this is review worth. So I go back in to snap a picture. I leave. Still bobody to be seen. I get out to my car. Look in the windows. Still nobody. I grew up going to Steak ‘n Shake in Florida. This was a very different experience. As others have said it’s disgusting inside. Trash everywhere old food on the floor and tables. Found the longest hair in my burger. The guy making the burgers had his hair in a ponytail. After complaining about it, he made me a new one but didn’t change his hair at all. The milkshake was wonderful! Worth the trip just for that. Burger was so-so. Not a ton of taste to it. Fries were good. You make your order at a kiosk, which feels impersonal. Very dirty place. Took almost 40 minutes for our food. With one other table in the place. Every table was dirty. Floors were gross drink station was a mess. Horrible will never be back here again. Workers moving in slow motion. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I went yesterday with my sister. She was excited to go since the steak and shake closed off of County line rd. The food was ok the fries were just a bit cold. The staff was creepy, though. They kept staring at us when we were in the restaurant. They didn't seem happy we decided to dine in. A lady was taking pictures of the lobby with her cell and took a picture of us. This review is based on my first time ordering at this fast-food chain. The store was relatively clean, but there was room for improvement. The store was empty when I arrived and no one was at the counter to greet us. This store features self-service kiosks for ordering, but it still would have been nice to see another human behind the business when I entered. I didn't order a soda, but the machine was out of ice and needed to be refilled. My order was made fresh and started promptly; I had my meal in no time. The shake was great and the extra wide straw was appreciated. The employee who handed me my meal was nice and polite. I’m not picky about food. Love me some Waffle House. That being said, this place was gross. It’s like a dive bar with the lights turned up bright. The light fixtures have dust bunnies and cob webs on them. The windows shades look like they were taken from a bludgeoning murder scene. The upholstery is ripped. The iced tea was full of tea leaves. The ice was empty. No ketchup bowls. No servers any more and no one even takes your order, it’s computer kiosk service only, and took 20 minutes. The steak and shake name has been disgraced. Great place to eat...if you're a polar bear. The employees keep the ambient temperature at about 50 degrees. We were there waiting for our car to be repaired, and we got so chilled that even my husband was complaining. We gobbled down our food as quickly as we could, but it was still ice cold before we could finish it. When we mentioned it to the employees, they were beyond indifferent.
