We had the historical delight of a meal at "Sio Sushi y Cocina" in the quaint Colonia Del Sacramento, Uruguay, and let me tell you, it was like discovering the Oriental version of the Declaration of Independence. This place combines the class of a Japanese tea ceremony with the creative zest of a Montevideo carnival. Each roll is a meticulous scroll of flavor, bursting with the kind of detail that would make Artigas himself pause for a taste.
The Vegi Maki? Imagine the sweet notes of Uruguayan mango, coupled with a smoky whisper that sizzles like the sunset over the Rio de la Plata - it's a revolution in your mouth. And the Sensai Sake, with its Salsa sour and Oriental sauce, is like the perfect marriage between the East and the Pampas, harmonious and exhilarating.
But the showstopper was the Hot Philadelphia with Verdeo rebozado in panko - a crunchy, creamy sensation that's as comforting as the wool of the finest Uruguayan sheep. It's the culinary equivalent of a warm embrace from José Mujica. If you're looking for a sushi experience that celebrates both the Land of the Rising Sun and the charm of the Banda Oriental, "Sio Sushi y Cocina" is your gastronomic patriot. Five glowing stars, lit like the lighthouse of Punta del Este!

The seafood with tomato cream sauce is excellent. Very fresh seafood, the suace is light and creamy, not too salty, make me want to drink it. A minor drawback is the kind of rice that comes with the dish, it is not the sushi rice expected, just plain white rice.

A trip worth remembering at “SiO2”. Starting with our wonderful waitress, Gabriella, to finishing with Chef Owners, Manuel & Veronica’s gift of their secret chili sauce, this was an all around 5 star experience. Service was impeccable and great fusion Japanese cuisine in Uruguay. Who would’ve known a country famous for it’s meats will have a sushi gem. Thank you Chef for a phenomenal experience!
Delicious food with an interesting menu, due to the integration of some Peruvian elements! Definitely on the pricer side, but good quality and a luxurious experience. Friendly and helpful staff.
I enjoyed the gyozas, the teriakyi roll (had amazing grilled salmon on top), and a tea. I was able to walk in without a reservation, but many entered with a reservation and it probably avisable to reserve a table if you can.

Pretty good sushi and great service, but i would expect the acevichado sushi to be more close to ceviche in taste, like such sushi i had in Peru and Colombia which had raw marinated fish inside. Their acevichado has fried shrimp and they only use the sauce to make it taste a bit like ceviche.
I'm not really a sushi guy, but this was undeniably a 10/10 for me. I got the chef's choice meal. Very fresh, just perfect.

Very nice fusion Asian food. Good and service excellent. I had the degustation menu. Excellent. I also heard them taking care of a vegetarian guest next table.

We had a WONDERFUL dinner at Sio. The food was divine, the staff helpful, friendly and attentive, everything was fresh, modern and stylish. Perfect for an intimate night out, or like us, a welcoming place for families. We felt very comfortable with our 5 children and we had an amazing family night. Definitely will be going back!
