Disappointing Dining Experience at Shogun Asian Cuisine Our recent visit to Shogun Asian Cuisine left much to be desired. Despite starting off on a promising note with decent appetizers, our main courses failed to live up to expectations. Opting for the Szechuan shrimp and vegetables alongside the Singapore chow mei fun with extra spice seemed like a flavorful choice. However, upon arrival, the presentation was lackluster, and unfortunately, the taste followed suit. The dishes appeared visually appealing, but when it came to flavor, they fell short. It felt as though the flavors were missing, leaving the impression that the dishes had been hastily prepared without much attention to seasoning or complexity. Considering the price tag of $72.95, we expected a more memorable dining experience. Instead, we were left feeling underwhelmed by the lack of depth in the flavors. It was as if the dishes had been merely boiled and served without the care and attention that one would hope for in a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, while Shogun Asian Cuisine may have its strengths, our experience was marred by bland and uninspiring dishes that failed to justify the hefty price tag. We left feeling disappointed Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

I came in and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The service was very polite and answered my questions about what they served. I was provided with a filling meal, that was very delicious. I will definitely come back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have intense loyalty to restaurants I like. Today I strayed from my go to sushi place, (Fusion) because they close from 2-4pm. I gave Shogun a chance over Tokyo because I think Tokyo is pretty bad. Shogun is cheaper than Fusion by a few dollars. Quality wise it is no contest, Fusion knocks it out of the park. Ordered 4 Spicy Salmon rolls to go today for team lunch and received 4 spicy California Rolls. I double checked my receipt online and on the bag to make sure I didn't miss click and order the wrong items. I did not. I don't know if it was a mistake or malicious, but I paid for salmon and got imitation crab Spicy California rolls. Not what I ordered.

My husband and I are from Chattanooga, TN and since we moved to Parkersburg 18 months ago, we have been looking for a japanese restaurant that could make a Sushi roll, SCORPION KING ROLL, the same way that our favorite place in TN makes my husband's fave roll at our fave restaurant, FUJI. nobody, and I mean NOBODY, would even look at what The Scorpion King Roll has in it, much less try to find something similar to it that they offer. Nobody in town does Custom-made Sushi, as far as everyone knows. We decided to try Shogun tonight for the first time. Our server, Maria, was EXCEPTIONAL!!! We asked if they could custom make us a roll like my husband's fave, and instead of shooting us down, she went and asked her manager and the cook/chef if they could, and they went out of their way to make it for him. Then named it after him!!!! EXCELLENT!!! I 100% RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Food was pretty average. But I’m pretty salty that for a 10 dollar pre-paid tip the delivery driver couldn’t even be bothered to knock on the door to let us know the food had arrived. It was getting towards the end of the delivery window (like the very end, 2-3 minutes) so I decided to track the delivery. Said it had been delivered like 15 minutes previous. So we go to check the door before calling the restaurant, and there’s a bag a food that’s been sitting on the porch for 20 minutes getting cold. Zero chance the delivery person attempted to knock on the door. We were in the room waiting, and if we hadn’t heard a knock, our dog would have. This is why I hate the pre-paid tipping platform. Food were tasty and delicious. The presentation was appetizing for a small city like Parkersburg in WV. The service was good and the price is affordable. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

Always a great experience coming here. The food is always hot and amazing, the service is on it, meeting your every need, and the music is good, setting the mood. The clear soup lifts my spirit every time I go in, the chicken hibachi always hits the spot, and the Yum-yum roll is to die for. So decadent it can double as both an entree and a dessert. Perfection. (Edit after a decade of going here at the bottom) I've been going here for about half a decade now and they absolutely have the best sushi around, and that says a lot figuring I've been to some 5-star sushi restaurants in NYC, LA, and San Francisco. It's fairly consistent and the size of the rolls is very big compared to about any other place I've been to, so you get your money's worth. If you like raw fish, the Sunset Roll is stellar, their Phili and Futo Maki rolls are awesome too. Besides sushi, their hibachi and other entrées are great as well (you will generally get 2 meals worth of food if you dine in, it is very worth it!) Every server I have talked to there has been great, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed since they are very rarely packed (probably due to the poor location). Unlike many Asian restaurants, the tables aren't sticky and the place is very clean in general. I cant speak on their takeout which likely has smaller portions, and takeout really isn't ever going to be as good as dine in just like anywhere else. It's probably my favorite place to eat in the MOV excluding some of the really high end places in Marietta where you'll likely spend $40 per person. Such a great place to take a date as well, just overall a very underrated restaurant. Edit: I've been so loyal to this place and always knew it was far underrated, but after going back several months ago for the first time in months, was pretty disappointed. The quality of the food just seemed different and noticeably worse than before. The way all the sushi was put together as well as the way its individual ingredients of our rolls wasn't nearly as nice as I remember, and the pickled ginger was disgusting. I've had a ton of sushi from all over the country, and I've never had any that tasted (and looked like) it had been rotting in an opened jar for a while. The service was 10/10 as always (though they could mix up the music playlist that's looped the same top 5 stock youtube video music circa 2014, haha) but I'd love to see the sushi go back to being great like it used to be!
