This Shaw’s Sudbury a well stocked supermarket with easy access near to Avalon. Store is well stocked with bakery, fresh produce, seafood, and meats as well as flowers, organic vegetables, seasonal items, dairy departments are well taken care of. There’s also lottery kiosk. The grocery Prices are competitive and reasonable when compared with other local supermarkets. There’s Self checkout for hassle free billing.
Waited at self checkout with my 1 year old daughter in tow trying to pay for my groceries when the self checkout froze and started blinking for me to wait for assistance. The woman next to me’s self check out did the same thing when she tried to pay. THREE managers were huddled around the self check out talking about their recent visit from Wind River. I waved them over for help since they had made eye contact with me several times. They continued to ignore me, the other woman, and now a third self checkout asking for help. After waiting for about 5 minutes for them to finish their conversation, and them only a few feet away from me, I finally said “Can any of the three of you help me?” And I was met with a hand up ✋🏽 to wait and a “someone will be right with you” and an eye roll. No one came. Finally a woman came, who had trouble fixing the machine so I could pay.
I can’t believe that a manager was too busy, or too prideful, or whatever it was, to help me, or the woman swamped with broken machines at self checkout. Your conversation about the recent store maintenance visit could have waited.
I will NEVER return.
Shaw's fab 5 sale week after week after week is tired. Shaw's use to have different sales they would rotate through. They have become boring and lame. And, of course, they're overpriced!
Quality is good, but selection is meager and regular prices are on the high side. Most sale prices have minimum quantity requirements, so they're only useful for families. There are very few natural groceries. The store is neat and clean, but old and well worn.
Decent produce. Meat quality varies. You can get some good buys here, but they don't always stock enough of their sale items, which is frustrating. (I.e., Bags of frozen shrimp are good quality and sale prices are excellent.) With so much competition in the area turnover isn't great. Check the expiration dates. For instance, they recently had a sale on Miracle Whip and several of the jars were expiring within 3 weeks.
I highly recommend this store for its wonderful employees! I was at this Shaw’s today with a family member. When my family member had a medical emergency requiring food, we asked the employee at the deli for a sandwich. The employee dropped what he was doing and quickly put together a small sandwich for him. When we tried to pay, the employee refused! He said all that mattered was that my family member was okay. This kind gesture left me in tears. Unfortunately I failed to get his name, but I hope that this employee can be recognized for his exceptional service in an emergency.
This Shaw’s is a total scam. They never have that is on sale. When ever the meat is on sale and has a 3lb minimum for the sale price they won’t package and meat larger than 2.5 lb so they don’t have to give the sales price of the item. We started call the weekly flier the list of items Shaw’s will be out of. Anything that is not on sale is so over priced, cheaper and better produce across the street while food. You have to watch the prices at check out like a hawk because nothing ever rings up correctly then half the time when you go to the service desk no one is to be found. No such thing as a quick in and out to grab a few thing from this store. Store is so outdated and never stocked.
