This is the greatest spot near Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House. Nicely cooked brioche french toasts, scallops and bolognese are among the dishes to be tasted at this bar. Most guests recommend trying tasty brioche toasts, chocolate waffles and sundaes. This place is known for good house wine, craft beer or Mimosas. You will appreciate great latte, fruit juice or egg coffee at Rustic Root. Musicians play live music in the evening. The accommodating staff welcomes people all year round. Cool service is a strong point that plays a great role for the success of this place. Prices here are reported to be average. You will appreciate the fine decor and calm atmosphere of this spot. The average rating of this bar on Google is 4.4.

We stopped by the Rustic Root in San Diego and Abby was wonderful!! She allowed us to sit upstairs and overlook 5th Ave. to have a few cocktails. The view was amazing and being December, the holiday decor was fabulous. We were near a fire-pit and very comfortable in the open air 59 degree balcony. Will definitely stop back when we are in town!! Service Dine in Meal type Other Price per person $20–30 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We made a reservation to eat dinner at Rustic Root for Thanksgiving because they were offering a Thanksgiving meal as well as their regular menu offerings. I’m not a huge traditional turkey kind of guy so I opted to order off the menu while my companion ordered the traditional turkey dinner. But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself….. First off, Rustic Root had three hosts up front when we arrived and they were smiling broadly and welcoming to us as we arrived at the restaurant. I let them know we had a reservation and they immediately were able to walk us to a dining room table. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for fall with leaves hanging from the ceiling throughout the premises. Chill EDM (electronic dance music) was playing at a moderate level and it was a festive scene in 80% full dining room. After sitting down we were quickly approached by our smiling waitress who took our drink order. Quick tip: Their Moscow Mule was really good. We also ordered a side of Brussels to share before our meal. For dinner we ordered the traditional Thanksgiving meal and the Bone-in Pork Chop. The roasted Brussels were really the only thing we weren’t crazy about during our visit. It wasn’t that they were horrible but the spicy honey made it a bit too sweet for our liking. The turkey dinner was absolutely humongous and came with corn, beans, cranberries, a biscuit, mashed potatoes and potato salad. My pork chop came with an amazing Demi-glaze. I subbed a jalapeño corn bread for the broccolini side and it also came with roasted sweet potatoes. The pork was beautifully cooked and the picture doesn’t really do it justice. It’s a good size meal. The sweet potatoes went well with the pork and I absolutely LOVED the corn bread. My mouth has started watering just thinking about it again. Looking forward to our next visit for sure! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was conflicted on rating either a 3 or a 4 star. Edit: I ended up giving a 2 as I thought more about it bc service is really important to me. The food was actually quite delicious. I got the lobster pappardelle, roasted chicken, and Brussels sprouts. The main problem was I had to wait 10-15 minutes before anyone even came up to us to ask us if we wanted water. The service here was horrible. Our server was never in sight. The food took probably over 30 mins to come out and no one checked in on us during that entire time. The food was good though. If not for the service, I would probably come back and try some other dishes. Another thing is I asked if I could take a carrot cake to go or if it had to be eaten at the restaurant. She said I could take to go but failed to mention that there was a 4.5-5% take out charge... my $6 cake literally became $10.50 lol. Because it was 5% charge on the ENTIRE CHECK. That's ridiculous to me. Maybe it was a one time thing and our server was just bad, but it puts me off from coming back. Excellent food for the price point. Good selection of wines and a nice collection of cocktails. We had the manager Vince sit with us for a few minutes and we had a great discussion on service and good food . Fall off the bone ribs. A tomahawk pork chop and really good brussel sprouts. Again, many thanks Vince. We'll be back when we are in town!!! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Came here for brunch, was hoping to get the more extended menu (probably the dinner options) but I was still satisfied with the brunch menu. The pancakes look amazing, although I tried the burger, and my wife tried the chicken sandwich. The burger had a super soft bun, and was very juicy. I was digging the size, it comes with a double patty. The chicken sandwich was dank, it had a nice crisp and a perfect spice to it. We split the chilequilles as an appetizer and it was packed with flavor, we loved it. When we first arrived and sat at a table on the roof top our waitress passed us 3 or 4 times and never acknowledged us, no eye contact, no "ill be right with you" so we got up and sat at the bar. Glad I did because the bartender Sean was delightful and gave great service. It was my birthday and the manager who's name I forgot, was super friendly and had a quick chat with us, wishing me a happy birthday. Service like this, and friendly managers, gets a easy 5 stars from me. Thanks guys, see you for dinner soon! Many people in San Diego rave about this place and it definitely lives up to its name with a rustic feel. . Located centrally on 5th Avenue in DTSD (downtown San Diego) the Root is a two story restaurant and bar with a brick outer face and lowly rooftop. It was a Thursday evening in late spring, when I decided to treat myself to dinner here. I sat at the bar and brought a book which is apparently frowned upon because the bar is for making friends and the book is for reading. I did both. The staff and atmosphere are cool and clean. No one went out of their way to create a superb experience, but they did their job so I can't complain. The bar has a granite countertop and leather stools that have back support; very plush and comfy. . After perusing the menu, I ordered a coconut mojito and the roasted veggie grain bowl with salmon as an added protein. The cocktail was a refreshing concoction and I was able to finish it before my entrée arrived. The fish was cooked medium which I like, but the accompanying sides were under seasoned. I doused the carrots, quinoa, farro & chickpeas with table salt & cleaned my plate despite the large portion. I know I'm hungry when I'm able to eat a two servings in one sitting. . If you're looking for a casual dinner vibe with decent food and great drinks, check them out. Forewarning the rooftop is reservation only and fills up quickly on weekends so be proactive if you want that experience.
