We came here quite late so there were limited choices left nonetheless the visit here was worthwhile. I like the place, its atmosphere, the food and the service. Finding a parking space was also not a problem at night. Overall, satisfactory 👍

Our dishes arrived quickly and the food was delicious. Nasi lemak could have more coconut milk to make it more lemak.

Nasi Aruk Terubuk Masin
First meal i had after landing in sarawak. Had no idea what nasi aruk was so I googled, its Sarawak's version of nasi goreng. Ordered it because why not
Oh my god, ITS SO GOOD. Its lighter than nasi goreng, but definitely superior than plain rice. Everything went well with it. I ordered with ayam penyet. Crunchy juicy chicken 🤤
For dessert i ordered sago gula apong. Marvelous. I'm only in sarawak for a few days and would like to try as many dishes as possible, but i keep on thinking about this nasi aruk. I might repeat it 🤣
Ambience of this place feels nice, i really like it and recommend it!

the food is average at best. the service is quite questionable. all in all, probably a two star rating. The staff service was not it, the order takes too long and when called was not heeded.

Nasi Aruk is a Sarawakian-Style Malay Fried Rice Technique that uses Little to No Oil during Frying as compared to Nasi Goreng. When I checked with my Malay Colleagues, no one has ever heard of this in Singapore so I'm really intrigued by this.
This Restaurant also seems to be quite popular. You know you've Struck Gold when you ask about this place and Grab Drivers all speak fondly of it.
The Restaurant itself is Beautifully Furnished and looks like I've stepped into Someone's Private Home. The Staffs are Friendly although they're probably understaffed as me and a few other customers had to wait quite a while when its time to pay at the Cashier at the end of our Meal.
The Dish itself is very Beautifully Presented as you can see. The Rice really doesn't taste Overly Oily. Neither does it taste Dry and it has a somewhat stickier consistency.
There is a Very Deep Haebee Smell and the Taste is Noticeably Salty and Complex with a Tinge of Spiciness. This is Very Well Made. Just the Rice alone is Delicious by itself!
The Ayam Penyet is Deeply Spiced, Not Overly Oily at all and taste really nice, although I felt the Meat was a little bit on the Dry Side. The Little Crispy Spicy Bits have what looks like Fennel Seeds. It's a really Big Fat Drummy and Pairs Beautifully with the Nasi Aruk. Layers of Spice upon Spice. 浓浓的马来风味
Condiments are a Sharp Salty Minced Haebee and some Onion Dark Soy Sauce that is Bitingly Spicy and Savoury. There is also a Beautiful Leaf Herb on the side that I'm not sure what the name is. It has a very Strong Sharp Taste with a Mangoey Aftertaste. Very interesting. I don't know if you're supposed to eat this Herb, but eating this together with the Rice adds another Dimension to the Dish.
Overall, this is an Absolutely Well Crafted, Designed and Very Filling Dish that I can Easily Recommend.
The Sago Gula Apong is a Very Milky and Creamy Cold Dessert and the Sweetness is Just Nice, Not Too Sweet. Eating this felt like a Palette Cleanser and was a Nice Break from the more 重口味 Ayam Penyet.
With a total price of RM19.70 (S$5.80) without any Service Charge for this Excellent Quality, this is Absolutely Worth the Money to come give this a Try. Highly Recommended!
