Myself, my wife and my sister and brother in law stop in a day earlier to check it out. We were greeted by the owner who spoke English very well. Had a beer and an appetizer that were good and the owner came over to inform us of a great deal for Thursday, 2 people, $60, seafood platter (included shrimp, mahi mahi, small lobster tail and rice and fries, plus 2 glasses of wine). Seemed worth it. We travel to mexico every year and like to eat and support local establishment's. The owner asked we put down a $30 reservation fee to reserve a spot and it would be credited to the meal, as he said every night it fills up and seating is limited Which seemed odd, since We have never had to do this in 15 years anywhere in mexico. We did so. Come the day of our meal. We order our platter and some beers and the other couple ordered some other items. The platter was greasy as all get up for being a seafood platter. The taste was all right at best. It is what it is. Here comes the bill. Over $250!!! We had pesos and American currency so we called to the owner over to find out if we could pay with half and half. That was not a problem. And like a gypsy, he took both money and added up as fast as he could, he said to give him 500 pesos, took the rest of what we had in pesos and American and said we are good to go. At this point We think he is coming back with change to figure out our tip. We saw him give our waitress "knuckles" and both have a good laugh. He comes back and we ask him to explain what just happened and where is our change, he literally took all our money we had on us. In total close to $400 combined pesos and american. We never had the $30 applied for the reservation as He said it was. He saw the confusion on our face and we asked what just happened? He said she, the waitress is jumping for joy as we gave her a $60, (600 pesos) tip, she didn't know any english and literally just brought beers 1 time and the food. He said that he also took 500 pesos to tip the kitchen!!! This all happened so fast and now we had no time to even question it as he ordered us a cab since he took all money and whisked us out. Long and short of it the owner who spoke good English lied to us, then over charged us, and finally stole from us as he decided what the tip was for the waitress and the kitchen. I hope this review saves atleast 1 person from going here!!! So bad that we may never return to the city, which is unfortunate for the other people that work hard there.
JT is the man! Food was amazing, cervezas were cold and he took the time to disinfect my wife’s leg after she cut herself walking around. If you’re in Las Crucecita hit him up for sure.
