Our waiter, Doubles, was the best salesman I have encountered. Went from a glass to a bottle of wine in the blink of an eye. We were staying on the premises. Great service, best steak in a very long time and local Klawer wine. So pleased they support the local wine industry. The restaurant has comfortable seating and dotted with Walter Meyer artwork. We had dinner here with friends. The atmosphere is historic and warm. The staff was friendly and helpful and we were welcomed at our table with a small glass of sweet wine. They were responsive to any requests. We ordered a range of food items and all were good with no issues. Waiting staff and managers were always on hand. The prices were reasonable. Who though Vanrhynsdorp would have something this amazing! The restaurant and grounds are meticulously manicured. The dining hall is quaint and beautiful. But the real winner was the food! The sheep tails was divine! Great steaks too. Great service and extremely affordable! Highly recommended if your passing through or visiting nearby. We stayed in the lodge. We travel with our little one, and the evening after arriving we went for dinner. She was not in as good mood, so we asked the waitress to have our meal at the room. The waitress was so helpful, she brought our food to the room, and it was very tasty. Would definitely recommend. Oh Wow, where do I start! We didn’t expect much and we thought it would be a scruffy little place but we went there anyways. Boy, did this place and its food left us in awe!!! It was such a great place with absolutely fantastic food that we had to go there for another evening! The steaks was the BEST and TASTIEST I’ve ever had. No need for sauces when you get yourself a delicious steak. It was cold outside and when we came in the waiter immediately gave each one of us a small glass with something like Hanepoot wine on the house. That already made me give them another star. I couldn’t find any fault with the service nor the food. Thumbs up to Red Ox Steakhouse!!

the Red Ox is reputed to have the best breakfast available, I am inclined to agree, the selection includes traditional fare like "melkkos" kidney stew and much more, the service is top notch and the price low, well done team, this is a definite wow, don't miss it Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person R 50–100
