Had the most amazing, top notch dinner experience on the top floor of the tallest building ICC in Hong Kong at Perla Restaurant last night. We were pampered from start to finish, and wouldn't hesitate to come back.
My partner and I wanted to kick off 2024 with a bang and decided to splurge for a celebratory dinner at Perla Restaurant. We picked the 6pm seating to catch the sunset and we were not disappointed. The view from our table on the 101th floor was breathtaking, and we saw the picturesque sunset and dreamy backdrop transition to the lively, starry metropolitan nightscape of Hong Kong. From walking over the soft carpets to sipping wine from the handmade, handpicked glassware, you can just tell that every aspect of the dining experience has been considered and combed over in detail.
Service as you would expect at a high end restaurant was flawless. Gary the Manager was knowledgeable and introduced each dish and wine pairing without being intrusive. Our water glass was always seamlessly being topped off, and I particularly appreciated the way our plates were served to us on the table like a synchronized water ballet performance.
For food, we decided on the 6-course tasting menu because we had a late lunch and the portion size ended up being just right. Of course we opted for the champagne and caviar option, which was the perfect start to our celebratory evening. The pairing of bubbly and sweet with salty and savory was divine. Next came a warm basket of 3 kinds of bread. Hands down the best bread and focaccia I have ever had at any restaurant, not to mention the 4 choices of olive oil you get to choose from. As a sucker for freshly baked bread, sitting here now I am still reminiscing about the crunchy crust and soft, moist inside. Next were the aperitivo which consists of a plate of 5 bite sized flavor bombs. They were all very good but my favourites were the mushroom mousse (top item) and lobster tart (middle item). I was amazed at how the chef can pack so much flavor and texture into such a small piece of real estate, bravo.
The next few courses showcased the restaurant's theme and amazing use of seafood. The cured striped jack was tender and refreshing, with hints of cucumber, green apple and acidity from the sauce which paired well with the saltiness from the caviar. It gave our palettes a refreshing break before our next course, the king crab meat with foam on top. This dish highlights the freshness and succulent texture of Alaska king crab meat, and the natural savoriness of the crab meat and foam paired well with the slightly sweet Gewurztraminer wine. Last but also my favorite of the seafood trio was the slow cooked lobster with corn sauce topped with seaweed. The lobster meat was ultra tender but not mushy and still has the "bounce" you would expect from fresh crustaceans. The sweetness from the corn sauce and crunchy yet slick texture of the seaweed were complementary and enhanced the dish.
For the pasta course, I chose the cacio pepe spaghettoni with Alba white truffle and it was an absolute stunner. Perfectly cooked and al dente spaghettoni served with the most creamy, succulent and heartwarming cheese and black pepper sauce and a generous amount of white truffle shavings was to die for and instantly transported me back to Rome. I would have asked for second servings if my stomach had room for it.
For the main course, I elected for the sea bream served with a hearty tomato sauce. The skin side was grilled over charcoal which resulted in the most crispy and tasty skin. The flesh was meaty and juicy, seemingly seasoned with just salt which gave room for the rich and creamy tomato sauce to coat each bite without overpowering the natural flavors of the sea bream. A great and hearty way to end the savory portion of the tasting menu.
An amazing meal in every aspect. I want to thank Gary and his team for their great hospitality. Pricing was reasonable at HKD 1680 plus wine pairing HKD 980 per person. We were told the menu undergoes a complete overhaul every 3 months or so. Can't wait to visit again.

it is a fine dining restaurant and it charges you so. they give you all the expensive ingredients like lobster, truffle, lobster and wagyu. and some strange ones too like anchovies on pasta. and as they try to tick all the boxes and fill up your bill, you will end up with four dishes with similar ingredients: tuna cappacio, shrimp, lobster, grilled red prawn. overall, ok place to bring a date you want to impress but not a place you will enjoy the food.

I came with a girl friend and we had such a good time. All dishes were good portion size and we took the wine pairing, not expecting much, but were very pleasantly surprised. Evening full of laugh, great food and service. I would go again.

If you look at the map, you you'll see you will be surrounded by water. Hong Kong at it's best. Sunset was phenomenal, but was surpassed by the cuisine and service. We were so fortunate to be able to have dinner at Perla on a Saturday evening. The venue is bright and vibrant. Gary and his staff are attentive and knowledgeable. We wanted high end seafood with an Italian flair--it was delivered. We started with a fresh seafood appetizer--oysters from France, shrimp from Spain, urchin from Hokkaido, scallops to die for, and steamed crab legs. Two pastas: al dente with urchin and cod. Finished with turbot in a wonderful olive reduction. Couldn't have asked for more, capped off by a deliciously dry white wine. We were too full to have dessert, maybe next time. The view is so impressive. I will come back whenever I am in Hong Kong--such a memorable experience. BTW, the bread (foccacia and sourdough were warm and delicious) and the olive oil was perfect.

Way too over priced for the food. Lunch Set also very confusing - the fish add 500 for 2 people actually means adding hkd 500 per person. So we ends up over hkd 1500 per person on lunch, the food is way too mediocre for the price, more for the environment I guess.

We only had lunch but the experience was overall great. They have excellent choice of olive oil and the sourdough is really good. Stick with their seafood and pasta and you won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful degustation menu - the appetisers all represented fresh elements to begin the meal, and varied in their characteristics - impressive start. However, the creativity of the Virtu pasta was unique, and the stand-out of the evening.
Service was friendly, attentive, but non-intrusive, which is appreciated on a date night out.
The view from 101F was stunning, particularly having an early dinner during these summer months.
Thoroughly beautiful night, my partner was thrilled to meet Chef Fabiano after the meal, it was the perfect ending.
Thankyou to the team!
