Food was delicious 😋 service was a three, vents in the restaurant were filthy dirty right by my table🤔 and OMG....we drove past the kitchen when leaving and I almost vomit..I'm sorry TMI but you get the point. Food was delicious! Margaritas were also tasty. Service is great and speedy. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The carne asada was the best we’ve had in town, temperature of the food was perfect, and everything came out in a timely manner. Our go-to place whenever family comes to visit! The atmosphere was festive and colorful. The food was delicious and hot. The island margarita and the sangria margaritas were absolutely perfect. The servers even said the island margaritas were their favorite. The servers were attentive and kind. I will definitely be back. They have great lunch and drink specials. The food here is delicious! The salsa is my favorite in town. The service can be lacking from particular servers, and I’ve gotten the subpar one the last two visits. Our food was delicious, and we really like the atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The owner even came over and spoke to us. One entree was a bit late in coming out, but my husband said it was worth the wait for his carnitas! We will definitely return. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This place use to be called just "Don Jose", but now is added "Palapas" to the name. There is another Mexican restaurant called just "Palapas" on Hoffmeyer about 5 minutes away from this one, but I've been told they are owned by the same people. My experience at this establishment has always been great! I have been going here since moving to Florence 5 years ago & recently i have ordered to-go 3 times within the past 2 weeks because I enjoy it so much. I get pretty much the same thing from every Mexican restaurant I go to, the Texas fajita nachos w/ the chips on the side w/ extra queso sauce & the queso sauce from here seems different from other restaurants & it is absolutely delicious! The service has always been top notch w/ the friendly staff & the speed at which they get the orders out. Even the delivery was super fast & food was hot when it arrived. Looking for good Mexican food? Look no further; you will 100% enjoy Palapas Don Jose. The BEST Mexican in Florence. HANDS DOWN. Service is impeccable. My mother has a guacamole allergy. They accidentally put guac on her salad. Finally a place that sells a good burrito. I recommend it highly make sure that they understand exactly what you want on it. The only thing I do not like is the tomato sauce looking salsa. I'm told all the vegetables are ground in there to make it into a puree. But to me, salsa is chopped onions, cilantro, tomatoes, some salt pepper. And I don't understand the Mexican restaurants here. They seem to be serving canned tomato sauce with garlic flavoring. But if you ask for salsa verde you almost have to beg for it and then they'll put it on the burrito and then they'll give you red sauce in the little to go cups.
