So delicious. Each dish was so flavorful. We enjoyed the polvo a galega (octopus served Galacian style) with olive oil and paprika, mexilau (mussels served cold on the shell with parsley, red pepper, onion and a dab of vinegar), moelas (chicken gizzards in a creamy tomato sauce) and cogumelos e costanhas (mushrooms and chestnuts sautéed with olive oil and oregano)—my favorite! The owners were friendly and gracious. We can’t wait to return. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch
This amazing small Restaurant serves a big variety of Tapas fresh HUGE shrimps and also a has a great selection of Belgian, German and Portuguese Beer! The owner is is lovely man which will guide you trough the menu if you need help. Also the prices are fair and the food was high quality. 100% Recommend Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
the food was horrible! The soup was a heavy cream, caldo verde is definitely not a heavy cream. The mushrooms were so salty that we couldn't eat them, the clams tasted good but only half were opened. I would never consider this restaurant as one of the top 10 best restaurants in Viana. I will never return! Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Sometimes, i return to a place for the good food, but this time I returned because of the food and the good treatment from the people at O Tabernão. I visited one week ago alone, and was so happy with the food i tasted that i brought two people i met so we could share more of this delicious dishes- it's mostly "tapas" or petiscos type of small sharing plates. We were all pilgrims on the Camino and we returned to Viana because we liked it so much. O Tabernão made us like it even more!

I deliberately came here for a simple local lunch because of the reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed! Off the beaten track tucked away on a quiet side street, but when you get in there are lots of local customers, the Portuguese menu is across the wall and the waitress speaks good English and you get an English menu - what’s not to like ! I got three seafood tapas dishes based on the waitresses suggestion plus a bottle of Vinho verde - The sardines and octopus was lovely bit the raw cod salad was not to my liking ( but you got to try new things!) The whole meal came to just under €25 which was very good value and about the cost of the main meals on the Main Street. Fully recommend
O Tabernão went beyond our expectation. It might look like any other 'tapas' restaurant but the dedication to please the customer gives it the extra edge to win us over. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person €15–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

All good, but the "Pataniscas de bacalhau" had too much black pepper.
