DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I have made a formal complaint with the Gisborne City Council. This owner/occupier should not be in the business of food. Terrible food and service!!! I have read through the reviews only wishing I had seen them before tonight’s visit. Every single negative mention about the food, staff and place is unfortunately true. I actually had to get insect repellent from my car to chase the flies away from me and my children!! My next step is to get in touch with the Noodle Canteen Head quarters. Couldn’t believe I was told tonight by the lady behind the counter that the locals like to eat their rice hard and uncooked!!! I’m sorry, did I just hear right?! Very sad and disgusting doesn’t even begin to describe how awful this food outlet is.

I didn't wanna believe it but this may be the worst restaurant I've ever stepped into. It's a good location which is fantastic, the smell is actually quite attracting from the outside and so is the exterior but when you walk in it's a different story. The first thing I noticed was the decay all around the ceiling. I pray that roof is strong because it looks like it's gonna fall through. Please get that fixed! The drink fridge was half empty and as a take away restaurant it's vital that drinks are to be topped up at all times, clearly not much to choose from. When I walked in I couldn't see a damn thing, there were no lights whatsoever not even behind the counter where they cook so it was very difficult to see especially with the thickest and most dirtiest glass panel. I understand the more protection against viruses the better but I'm telling you I couldn't see anything and I also had to yell not only through this thick glass but also over the top of the friers which sizzled like crazy. It was almost hard to tell whether they had a lot of orders to get through or their intentions were to absolutely ignite the natural integrity of these dishes. The brightest thing in the room was the menu which was actually quite pleasant to read, the letters were big and bulky even though the prices are ridiculous. Dirt on the floors and a push bike park underneath the window table. There was nobody else in this place so I’m assuming the bike belonged to one of the staff members. Customer service was really poor! I asked our man what dish he highly recommended. After he pointed to the menu up above and told me to read the menu I asked the question again. “What dish from this menu do you recommend?” He then took three steps back as another employee handed me the same damn menu from a pamphlet. I asked the question one more time “What dish from this menu do you recommend?” They both said nothing and sat back down. At this point I felt really uncomfortable and the aura has shifted drastically from bad to worse. I mentioned the volume of the friers right? Well did I mention the crying baby next to them? I’m guessing about two years old. No toddler should be next to those friers when it’s as sizzling and as uncontrollably boiling hot as it was and also no toddler should be screamed at for being in the way. My experience in this place was roughly three minutes and I had noticed so many violations. This place would get closed down 10 years ago if the reviews were this bad. I had to leave without purchasing anything and I’m glad I did because after reading some of these reviews already I think it’s pretty clear by now that the council needs to do something about this place as soon as possible!

Had a pretty shocking meal whilst here at rnv, lacked flavour other than salt and the prices were very high. The lady serving was nice but the food was very unremarkable and nothing like the noodle canteen in wellington Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1

Baby in kitchen, where is the health and safety? Ordered honey chicken from their tiny menu, and I received big balls of dough with a bit of chicken on the inside. Avoid like the plague. The owners are hostile, abusive, and arrogant. I saw another customer pay for his food, only for the money to be misplaced by the man and then he promptly told the customer “no money, no food” despite the customer having the change in his hand. I had to wait 30 min for mine. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Had a large order which was made at a reasonable speed. Served by a kid that looked 12 but knew what he was doing (owners child?). I usually love noodle canteen but at this particular branch the food was very dry and bland, lacking the usual delicious sauce at other branches. I had a tofu option and sadly their tofu was not great... Would have expected a lot better for $11.

Ordered from Delivereasy. Called delivereasy to say our order was wrong. (No pad thai, instead we got a random chicken dish) They sent another pad thai out however, it was the same as before. Just some random chicken on noodles with some sort of brown sauce. That is not Pad Thai. Order of chilli beef was okay. Chinese beef was dry and mostly gristle served On the same noodles as the "pad thai". Meal type Dinner Price per person $70–80 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 1

Highly don’t recommend this place so sad to say use to go here all the time and was primo as! Recently went there today ordered honey chicken, no honey sauce, fried rice was salty as fk and for $18.50 such a shame. Ordered 2x "chicken curry on rice" and received chicken curry FRIED RICE. It was disgusting! Was specifically hungry for a curry sauce on rice and not fried rice mixed with curry powder with broccoli, cabbage and carrots! The dish on their menu is very misleading. Service Delivery Meal type Lunch

I go here about twice a year and every time it seems to get worse. The meals taste average now but prices still go up. Whole store needs a revamp and a good clean, dust on top of the bug sprayer was almost black with how much there was. There are still children working there, the young boy works the register and sometimes I see him cooking. I don't think I will be back unless there is a major change or new owners.
