I was back in Cape Town with my friends, and I made sure to take them here. They loved the deep-fried snoek. Unfortunately, the upstairs deck was closed for renovations, so we didn't get to enjoy the views while eating, but food was still pretty good, and the service was excellent. Lovely little fish and chips shop at houtbay harbour. Everything was freshly made. We had the fish, calamari, chips and lovely Gatsby. A lot to choose from. Very nice view from the top seating area. The food is good and the views are spectacular. I hadn’t had a gatsby yet so I was eager to try one. I thought I was being smart by ordering a half but the thing was still big enough to feed 2-3 people! The chips were perfectly cooked and whatever sauce they use is tasty. Always a pleasure to stop by for some munchies. The Portuguese special is always a hit. And if you’re stopping for a meal then you have to finish it off with an ice cream! Nice a creamy soft serve. Visited Muriel's with a local who has been going there for yonks. The hake batter was golden brown and crispy and the fish fresh. Reasonably priced too at less than R100. The cappuccino was a generous size. The staff were friendly. Will return. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

The owner is a bitter old lady. Her competition, Mariners is filled to the brim and no tables available. We got food there, and looked for a seat. She very rudely told us we can’t sot there (reasonable as it’s not their food) even after I said I will happily but from there to use the tables. She told me no, I cannot buy from there. Definitely not a place to eat if looking for anything vegetarian even though there are options on the menu, it was not very good. Visited Houtbay about three weeks ago. By far the best fish and chips spot I have ever been too. Everything was so fresh and the portions wwre very decent.
