Mamasan tries to cover all the bases - Vietnamese, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese, and does a pretty good job. The satays were ordinary, but the Vietnamese prawns were sensational, and the Massaman curry and lemongrass chicken were also superb. The weak spots were drinks - the non alcoholic cocktails just tasted like soft drink and they only had 2 beers and a very limited wine list. But service was excellent and fast, and the prices were good. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–60 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Vietnamese Pancake Bánh Xèo

Stunning menu that I wanted to try 10 different meals from! Limited options for kids if they aren't used to Asian flavours but we managed with the rice paper rolls and popcorn chicken plus a mango lassi. The roti was amazing, Vietnamese omelette was a good option if you want a more mild meal. The Kangpau chicken was so flavoursome, I could only eat half as so rich. Nasi Goreng was huge and took half home. Loved the aloe vera juice. Great atmosphere.and attentive service. Went on a Sunday eve so the place was relatively quiet and service was quick. Main dishes were very good, but starters less so (the dumplings were disappointing). Cantonese noodles and beef radang were tasty and with decent portions. Cocktails were ok. Service Dine in Price per person $60–70 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

This is more of an Asian fusion Resturant. We ordered the prawn cutlets, Bun Hanoi (Vietnamese salad with pork and spring rolls) and Green curry chicken. Prawn cutlet was nice and crispy. The Bun Hanoi was more like stir-fry pork in noodles and spring rolls with a side of salad greens not like the typical Vietnamese salad where you pour the dressing over and mix it. The green curry was watery but it tasted not too bad. The service was great! Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–40

To all my Asian friends, this is NOT an authentic Asian restaurant. It's FUSION. Asian food with European twist. If you come looking for your homely taste, you're in the wrong place. Do try it if you're looking for some adventure and creativity. Personally I think it's okay because most of the food come with the same garnish. Pork belly is highly recommended and all the sauces are very well balanced. Lemongrass chicken like other reviews said, only has a very faint lemongrass taste to it. Ended up more like stir fry chicken..

TLDR: Solid, clean Asian fusion dishes with great service and vegan friendly in a food dessert. Food: we had their spring rolls, some drinks, nasi goreng, and a drunken noodle. The nasi goreng was a bit under seasoned compared to traditional spicy goreng, but still good. I very much enjoyed the drunken noods. Would definitely come back if ever in Nelson again. Food was reasonably priced for the higher quality ingredients and preparation care put into the dishes. Service: the wait staff were all kind, attentive, and we had no real complaints! Atmosphere: a nicer restaurant that was clean and modern. It was a bit sparse and not memorable, but overall good! Really wanted to have an enjoyable experience but quite mediocre sadly. First there was 4 minutes between each dish arriving so between the first and last over twenty minutes transpired. Food was good but not very exciting especially when compared to cost vs the many other Thai food places. Lastly despite only three tables in the entire place we were sat next to another group and it was quite loud. So yeah, nothing really bad but nothing really memorable. Meh...
