This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The food was cooked perfectly, the staff were incredible, attentive and worked together so well. The food came quickly and we opted for Mayan coffee at the end which was a very fun show! We enjoyed the vibrancy on the streets below, and the mariachi band that came up and played in the restaurant during our meal. I had the mariachi tacos and each one was better than the last. I can’t wait to return here time and time again! Oh and do not overlook the lobster tacos- your life will never be the same. The burrito did not have any sauce or cheese. No cheese on the fajitas. Could not get tap water. The ladies would have liked a gold margarita, but didn't want to pay $27 for it. Good Mexican restaurant with decent food and decent service. You can enjoy market and street views while seating there. The food is relatively overpriced (priced for tourists) Note that they pre-charge you for an optional tip so be careful and ask them to change it if you do not agree with the extra charge. Super nachos with chicken and beef were AMAZING & so filling 2 of us only ate 1/2. We also got the guacamole which is made fresh at the table and a wow margarita which was so fresh and delicious. The food is delicious. Server was nice, two tips are added to your bill automatically. The street dancers perform down below and come up to the restaurant expecting tips, even when you're seated where you can not see them. We stayed at a resort about 20 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Used a cab service and asked the driver to take us to a local restaurant that served good food. This is the place he took us to, smack on la Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) very popular touristic avenue full of shops and restaurants and street performers etc... La Parrilla is a very nice restaurant, very opened and aerated. Because it's opened, you still get a good view of traffic, also view the the 5th avenue and the everyday life and often get some street performers too. We chose the upstairs with top view on the street. Occasionally yes you have that one car or motorcycle with loud muffler etc but that part of the everyday noise so wasn't a negative in my view. The servers speak decent English and are very nice, friendly and professional. They'll occasionally drop a joke here and there but nothing offensive or outrageous. They took our order for drinks and then appetizers. I knew this place would be good as we ordered chips and guacamole and they literally make that guac in front of you, throwing in all the spices and condiments and avocado and mix it up for you. Best guacamole I've ever had bar none. And we lived in Texas for years and had our fix of TexMex. Not even close. The appetizers were delicious and then came the main dish we ordered and all of it was just so good we wanted more. Definitely recommend the place. Even had a mariachi guy with a guitar playing some very popular tunes like La Bamba, Cancion dEl Mariachi (from the movie Desperado sung by Antonio Banderas), Guantanamera etc... Now be mindful they already slap a "fee" on the receipt that's a tip (service fee) but we still left extra since you never know how these are distributed. All in all excellent place to grab either a quick bite or just eat good food and enjoy drinks. And they don't wimp out on alcohol in their drink. They load it. One margarita from there might take you over the edge so be mindful of that. Give this place a try.

I was there for the first time yesterday with a group of 12 people At the end of the service the server Changed me 20% tip without me telling him do do so and ask me to give him an extra 15% in cash I could not believe this I didn't give him the 15% but hi forced all the table to give him the 20%I didn't what any problem I was with my wife and 3 kids so I let it go playadel carmen is becoming a very scamy place to be be very careful in any restaurant.
