Long queue but moved quickly. Peas and ricotta pastizzi was 50 cent and chicken was 60 cents so very reasonably priced. (No anchovies option anymore). However we found the pastries quite hard and oily. The chicken one was the best, the peas and ricotta was basic. I've tried 4 different type of delicacies and had 2 cups of coffee and plaid +- 3 € The place was fully packed but some friendly locals invited to sit next to their table and we had a lovely chat about the life in Rabat. There's no words to describe this amazing traditional little family run cafe...follow the queues.... the BEST traditional Maltese cheese / pea / chicken pastry ... love the simplicity of the menu.. traditional way of serving coffee and tea in glasses Staff and owner are welcoming even though they are always busy, open 24 hours! Located just near the main square between Mdina & Rabat... yummmmmy 😋 Highly recommended and such good value for most of the food items Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person €1–5 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Cheese Pastizzi and Chicken Pastizzi

Very busy and popular please. Very good price, pastizzi from the price of 50 euro cents. Highly recommend and very fresh. Perfect for a snack or even for a lunch. The Qassatat is massive, i think the one with cheese has over 200 grams of cheese in it, you will be very full. Enjoy! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Best Pastizzi in malta! We opted for a cheese, peas and chicken which were all fresh and tasty. The pastizzi is all served fresh from the oven as soon as you order. The tea is slow brewed too which compliments the Pastizzi perfectly. The pastry was nice and flakey not soft like how most other places have. Is-Serkin Crystal Palace is known for their pastizzi, a Maltese pastry made of crispy phyllo dough baked with various fillings. The choices here included ricotta, mushy peas (demonstrating the British influence on Malta), and my favorite, mushy peas with anchovies, which gave the filling a salty, umami depth. Though I’m a fan of foods with crispy textures, even I found the pastizzi pastry a little too hard and crunchy, as they had been baked for a long time in the oven to a dark brown crisp. I also tried the Qassatat, a circular pastry with the same fillings but made with a soft, chewy dough. Finally, we had the classic Maltese street food Ftira, a sandwich of tuna, marinated olives, beans, and vegetables on a crusty ring-shaped bread brushed with tomato paste. The fillings of the sandwich were tasty and nicely balanced, but the crust of the bread was extremely hard and dry. On the side, we got a cup of tea, a weak and milky British-style tea. That’s because this bar (which is named after the London suburb “Crystal Palace”) was popular with the British during the time when Malta was a British colony! While I thought the food and hole-in-the-wall atmosphere were just average, everything here made for an extremely cheap meal, and it was fun to eat at such a famous institution! Early morning trip to mdina. Was walking and noticed this place was busy around 9am. Popped in and ordered a pea pastizzi, qaghaq ta’ l-ghasel, fresh milk Maltese tea and coffee for €2.90!!! Was definitely worth it. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person €1–5 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pea Pastizzi
This place is going back in time to the 80s… the cool thing about it is that nothing changed … bar has the look and charm of 30 years ago… simple old Maltese bar which became famous cause it was one of the only places open early hours and we disco guests would go there for a tea and the Maltese cheese cakes ( Pastizzi) prices make you feel you are in the 80s too. The thrill of this bar is not high class but pure Maltese workers bar … a must visit while in Malta Service Dine in Meal type Other Price per person €1–5 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pea Pastizzi

This place is usually open 24/7 This is a place for a quick bite and it is very famous for the Maltese traditional Pastizzi (cheese and pea cakes) though it's also a traditional tea/coffee shop and they also serve hot food too. The atmosphere is what is to be expected in a traditional coffee shop in Malta. It is clean and very busy. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
