Nice place for a nice lunch. Very casual and relaxing. You can just order at the counter for your meal but you can also catch your own salmon and they can cook for you. The food was a little hit and miss. The pizzas were super bland and lacking flavour but the salmon dishes were delicious, would highly recommend. If you're going for a meal is highly recommend booking a table. The grounds are amazing with something for everyone regardless of age or physical ability. For something different, this is the place to visit. We did not fish on our visit, but it did look like fun and the kids there were enjoying it. Seating available bit in and out. On a nice sunny day head outside for a more relaxed atmosphere. Some of our dishes were good but others lacked flavour. Pizza did look like the best option. Drink selection on offer did t reflect the menu nor the board. Some staff were super hard working while others seemed absent. Lots of tables with dirty plates just sitting there for the birds. This spot is awesome. We came for the food which was amazing. They specialize in salmon and they definitely know what they’re doing. All the salmon dishes we tried were so fresh. We also saw that you can rent a fishing rod to catch your own salmon which they’ll process it for you. Saw a lot of families with kids doing this activity. This is definitely a spot I would take my family to during the weekend or if you’re just craving some salmon.

We didn't fish, but we found a lovely shelter from the wind on a gusty day at Hook Wanaka. We had drinks, the sourdough bread, the sashimi plate, and the steak. All were delicious in a very lively ambiance. Watching families fish for their salmon was brilliant people watching. Would recommend this as a spot to visit even if you don't want to fish! Amazing experience all around! The staff helps explain a bit about how to fish if you're new to it, and was very knowledgeable. They were hands off enough to let you feel like you were catching your own fish, but helpful enough to prevent you from waiting hours and hours for a fish. I caught a 1.6kg salmon that easily fed 2 people when hot smoked. It was absolutely incredible tasting!!! Would highly recommend if you enjoy salmon and want a hands on experience. This is a great place for family and friends! Great environment! We just had a 6 hour hiking at Wanaka so we are tired and hungry 🤤 🍣 We ordered a three way salmon , with one sashimi, one grilled, one smoked. I love the sashimi the most and then the grilled one . If you don’t know what kind of salmon you want you can try the dish. The salmon pizza 🍕 is great! It’s not the salmon but it’s the pizzas itself! This is the best pizza base I had recently! It’s thin but chewy and fragment! High recommend the pizza! The green salad 🥗 is ok but too small. The beer Hazy is great too, also recommend! I would like to come back for the pizza! Great food great people. Beautiful environment and great activity. We had the grilled salmon fillet and the salmon Sashimi, both taste really great. Unfortunately the fishings were all hired, didn’t get a chance to catch my own salmon. Definitely coming back again the next time I visit Wanaka! Super fun place! A must do in Wanaka. It was a slow day for the fish but one of the awesome crew members came and helped us with technique and we caught a 2kg salmon! It was very exciting. Tasted great as sashimi and hot smoked. A very memorable moment from our time in NZ. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A lot to desire …. The concept is good, but the management of this place is chaotic. I know it’s the holiday seasons … BUT on the website it saids no booking, so we arrived early (around 11:10am) to found all tables were reserved 🤷🏻‍♀️ so how come people got table reserved when on the website it saids walk in only. The food was ok but the pizza wait was so long, and it wasn’t available until 12pm, no advance orders. That’s why people are stuck on their table for so long. We ended up spending almost a whole day there as we couldn’t get a rod on the 1.15pm session. I would think a business like this would like quicker turnaround instead of people lingering around all day.
