Tried something new and that was a mistake. Fish and Chips looked good and was good the first few bites. But the thicker pieces were raw in the middle. Will definitely not get again. But we will go back. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Grinder

I have frequented Grandpa Tony's for over 30 years being a BCC grad and going there after events and for special occasions. They are known for their steak sandwiches and desserts. Tonight I shared a steak sandwich supreme (grilled with sauce on the side) and baked spaghetti. The steak sandwich was very good but noticeably smaller then in the past. The baked spaghetti was not layered with light sauce and very little meat. I would not get it again. Service is good. Prices are on the higher side. Table and booth seating. Lot and street parking. I have and will return but they took a step back in the review this time. 12/24/23 I ordered take out sirloin tips and pasta along with a steak sandwich and fries for take out on a busy Christmas Eve. The sirloin tips were good but they jammed my side salad in a soup cup and didn’t add my bread basket (on the menu) to my take out. I called and they said they would get one ready for me. I went back and got two slices of bread. I asked “where's the rest of the basket with the garlic sticks and such?” He said take out only comes with bread. No apology for me having to return for my two small slices of bread. Steak sandwich was average. Thanks for being open on Christmas Eve but I won’t be back anytime soon. It’s a shame because I’ve come for years. 😢 Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

I had the liver and onions here, when I say it tasted just like grandma used to make. It would be an understatement. Because it was better than what Grandma made. Sorry grams, the dish was served with potatoes and veggies. When it came to the table I was amazed at the size of the meal. So full after eating just half, I took the rest home and ate it for a late night snack. Wonderful place to eat, pictures of the family history on the walls. Home made goods for sale at the counter. Felt like you'd walked back in time to a family owned diner. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Love these guys! They've got me hooked on their milkshakes with all the flavors and add-ons, plus they even do malts! The fact that they do online orders for delivery just puts them over the top. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Bay City area. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chicken Noodle Soup

Terrible experience. We've eaten at Grampa Tony's many, many times over the years. Most times the food has been really good, except that the "famous" steak sandwiches are definitely not what they once were. Unfortunately, this old favorite is now not something we order. On this occasion, we were in that part of town for a medical appointment, so decided it would be convenient for breakfast. We arrived around 10:30 am and were the ONLY customers. Assuming that our food would be fresh and ready quickly was a mistake. After ordering within 5 minutes, we waited nearly an hour for our meals. In the meantime, other people began coming in for lunch and were receiving salads and bread baskets while we waited . . . and waited. My orange juice had a couple of blue-colored "floaters", so I didn't drink it. I had a Southern Omelet and my husband had Southern Potato Skins. Pretty much the same ingredients, just different presentations. Surprisingly, he did not get toast with his! Most egg dishes do come with toast or bread of some type. When my food was finally brought out, the "dark" toast that I had requested was just cold bread with a smidgen of butter and no extra butter on the table. The rest of my food was cold, as if it had been sitting a while. My husband was told that his needed more time in the oven. About 10 minutes later it was brought to him -- at least it was hot and sizzling. It was pretty impossible to request anything from our server since she was one who approached the table to check on us just as we'd take a bite, and then keep moving on without giving us a chance to ask for what we needed. I do accept that part of this issue was my fault for not demanding to have the OJ taken away and removed from the bill, and for not complaining about the rest of my meal. By this point we were in a real time crunch and couldn't afford to wait any longer so that we could eat our meals separately! Also, I am not one to complain about food in restaurants. I will usually be pretty calm about it and just make a note to myself to not order that item again or not eat there again. After this experience, I can definitely say that we won't be back for breakfast ever again. Also, we've had both take-out and delivery in the past few months and those were much better experiences than dining in. I also want to address the "service charge". Other reviewers mentioned it and the management's reply seems to tie it to credit card charges. We have seen this at other restaurants, but it is noted at the cashier's counter if you are actually using a credit card. At Grampa Tony's, it was added to our check before it was even brought to our table. Unless the server is a mind reader and can tell ahead of time that the customer is actually using a card and not cash, this doesn't make any sense at all. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

I have been going to Grandpa Tony's for many years. My favorite meal is their steak sandwich and onion rings. What I like most is that it always tastes the same, the bread is fresh and scumptious, and onion rings are so tasty. Of course, their sauce is right on point as well. Family owed by the Lagalos since 1962 I think. Great place to eat! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Onion Rings

It was my first time coming here. A friend wanted to take me there because it's his favorite place and I can see why. Our server was very friendly and brought us our food very fast. The food was delicious, I had the manicotti, my go to when I'm trying a new Italian restaurant, my friend was right, good all the way around. I'm glad we went. Would recommend. Highly disappointed this place use to be top notch back in the day, however the service was so slow today and the food came out cold and wasn’t even worth the wait we had 8 people and paid $153.00 very pricey not to mention they charged a 4% service fee because I used my debit card instead of cash HORRIBLE I just spent $153.00 @ your restaurant that’s not enough to cover the processing fee? Awful awful awful Will NOT be back! HIGHLY DISSATISFIED! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
I stopped here on my way to eat somewhere else. Something about the outside screamed good food and I was not disappointed. Lasagna was top notch, salad tasted like Olive Garden. Not sure how you want to view that comment but I like OG. Service was extremely fast. Would totally go again. Price was great $12 bucks and I was stuffed! We ordered a hot fudge sundae and a banana split. When she asked if there was anything else, my wife said “yeah, a stretcher”. These desserts are enormous! Amazing steak sandwich! Heavenly! Bread basket and peanut butter cookies are super too. I suspect you can’t do wrong with anything on the menu.
