Around mid Jan, the thought occurred to me that I would a great idea to spend Chinese New Year here. We’d eaten here a few times over the previous 3 months and found that the food was more than passable for a restaurant in a non-Chinese environment - full marks. So, a booking was made for the celebration and at a follow up dinner before the event, I took the opportunity to speak to Elizabeth (the owner/chef) to confirm the reservation and discuss possible menus; all fine to this point!
Come the night, we arrived in time for our booking, only to be told we had no booking! After a couple of hissy fits, they found us a table and, if only I’d known what was ahead of us, I wished I’d walked out instead of insisting on a table.
WHAT A TOTALLY UNMITIGATED DISASTER IT TURNED OUT TO BE!
Underprepared, understaffed (both in the kitchen and with service staff) under responsive, and totally over ambitious in thinking they could cope with 50+pax!
Inevitably, the wheels fell off and if you got your order in under 90 mins, it was time to offer up prayers to the almighty in thankfulness.
We left after two & a half hours having only been served 2 starters - no sign of our signature New Year dishes!
We were not alone in this situation-:there were 2 other tables, one of 20+ and another of about 18 who were experiencing identical protracted delays and wrong orders!
This situation for us was further exacerbated by the arrival of a party of 9 Chinese who, unluckily for us, sat next to us - not a problem, until they then proceeded to bring in a succession of 5 courses of dishes from their cars to eat and then started abusing the waiters for not providing them with chopsticks.
Again, none of my business, but the final straw was when they co-opted our 2 main dishes by intimidating the poor waiter!
After nearly 3 hours, enough was enough, we cancelled one of the mains and took the other in a doggy bag.
I must say, the only person who showed any concern and who tried her best to pacify people and reassure them was Diana.
Apart from this bright spot, it was a monumental case of overreach by management of staggering proportions.
The sad thing is that if you go on a quiet night when there are no more than 10 diners, the food is actually quite good!

I like the articulation of the meals preparation and presentation. They serve in a way to make an unforgettable impression. I recommend the restaurant any day for anyone looking to eat some decent sea foods and chinese foods among others. They have ample space both inside and outside making it ideal for dates, meeting with friends or family or even a chance to try foreign foods.
I recently dined at this establishment, and I'd like to share my thoughts. While the service was truly top-notch and deserving of high praise, I must admit that the overall food quality left something to be desired. I ordered the chicken noodles, and unfortunately, they were undercooked. On a brighter note, my partner thoroughly enjoyed the prawn noodles.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the fish pond on the premises appeared to be covered in green algae, which was a bit of a visual setback.
Despite these minor shortcomings, the exceptional service truly stood out, making our dining experience pleasant. Considering the balanced experience, I would rate this establishment with four stars.

Chinese American visiting Kenya for the first time. Diani beach was part 3 of our 3 piece trip (Maasai Mara>Nairobi>Diani beach). Super surprised to see a Chinese restaurant right across the street of the resort we were staying at. Authentic decor and decorations, even plates and bowls. Food is decent - depends on what you order, I’d say it can be pretty authentic. Excellent service. Wait time can be a bit long but that is common at any restaurant we have dined at while in Kenya. Overall we enjoyed it!
