My grandparents and I came to eat here, as they had advertised themselves as offering gluten free options. We are not horribly allergic, just intolerant to gluten that can cause some discomfort.
Upon entering, it was obvious there was just one waitress working the front of house. She was kind and friendly, but obviously under a lot of pressure. I want to preface by saying that none of what followed was her fault.
We ordered coffees, which came in dirty mugs. My grandfather (who is not GF) ordered biscuits and gravy, which he could not eat, because it smelled and tasted like fish. My boyfriend (not GF) ordered fruit crepes, which he had a difficult time eating as the raspberries tasted fermented.
The silverware had spots on it. Our baked beans were okay, but the cups they were served in had unidentifiable food crusted to the side. My grandmother had to send her soup back as it was freezing cold when it arrived at our table. On the menu it was advertised as gluten free, vegetarian beef and tomato soup. Despite it being returned to the table reheated, she could not finish it.
We had each, in pairs, driven an hour to meet here. We live far away and this was a halfway point for us. It was a disappointing experience.
I politely took the waitress aside and told her about these issues. I asked for at least the biscuits and gravy to be removed from the slip, which she kindly did. As someone who had worked in kitchens as a cook, I understand that things can get overwhelming at times, but the restaurant was not remarkably busy. There are many things I can be understanding about, had it been just one of our orders being off. But this was our whole meal.
When we filed out of our booth to leave, I saw that my grandmother had been sitting on a large duct taped patch where the vinyl had been worn away.
I'm not sure who is responsible for the state of things here, but they seem to have abandoned their responsibilities here.

Really good breakfast place.
I got a hash omelette and raisin toast. It was good, exactly what I wanted, nothing fancy.
My partner got eggs Benedict, they were really good, eggs were cook perfect.
Coffee was adequate and the prices were great.
If you're looking for a no frills place to grab a good reasonably priced breakfast this is one of my favorites.

We're from Colorado and were visiting our relatives in Lewiston, and Fran's was highly recommended for their home style cooking. Great breakfast was enjoyed by all. Our waitress was great (sorry, I've forgotten her name).

Every time you order breakfast from here it’s tasty and great but they 100% will mess your order up and forget part of it. The last three trips my family has made the Fran’s they haven’t got the order correct and it’s a bit hassle to fix it I would just go somewhere else that can get it right
Ordered the country fried steak, and it was smothered in delicious gravy.

Well that was a pretty great breakfast. They had some nice covered outdoor seating (which is great during these COVID times) that was perfect for a crisp morning.
I tried the Mama's Garden Crepes -- I would say that it was just okay... A bit overloaded with scrambled egg, which seems kind of odd to me, but the veggies and cheese on it were really good.
I also ordered the sausage gravy and biscuit - this was very good, but make sure you're in the mood for something salty. It came with home fries and two eggs, which were perfectly cooked. It's shocking how many breakfast places fail to cook a proper over-medium egg.
Service staff were friendly as well.
Restroom was very clean.
If you enjoy being ignored and listening to the hostess/server complain to herself about people coming in to eat while she rings in the orders (of the people PAYING for service and food) then go here. I left after 10 mins waiting to be seated so I didn't have to continue listening to her poor attitude. Who'd want to eat at a place where you'd have to listen to the person serving you complain about literally the thing you went there to do?
