Tradition dictates that this must be your first stop in Ponto do Ouro, and it does not disappoint! Home of the real R&R, and the perfect way to get your Mozam vibe going!
A traditional Mozambique pub, it was an awesome experience and an absolute must if you are ever in Ponta, BEWARE the R&R's... They are very generous with the amount of rum that goes into your drink and you might find yourself lying on the ground outside after your 4th one wondering where you are and what day it is 🤣🤣🤣 *talking from personal experience* #funtimes
The oh so famous Fernandos! The home of R&Rs in Mozambique, finishing bottles almost every order! Great vibe, great space for dancing and chilling out! We even started a dance that had the whole place dancing, had some snacks like their chips, which were really amazing. Love the rustic vibe as well as being able to see all the different people who have stopped over with all the cards stuck on all the walls.
On recommendation from the activities supervisor at The White Pearl Resort - Domingo - we went to a little bar in Ponta do Ouro called Fernandos.
Fernandos is where the R&R (the legendary Rum & Raspberry cocktail that SO many South Africans and Mozambicans rave about) originated from.
Unfortunately, the owner - Fernando - passed away a couple of years ago. However, you can still see his pictures against the wall in the bar, and learn about the influence that he has left on so many lives.
This is a small, little bar as you get into Ponta do Ouro, with really great service. South Africans are truly made to feel so welcome.
Dotted along the walls are reminders of people that have been there - everything from forgotten drivers licenses there, along with bank cards, there are signatures and pictures of the people that have come to visit this place, and they become part of the bar's personality.
This is really a must-stop for anyone that is heading to Ponta do Ouro, just to see this lovely little bar.
And don't forget to stop along the small stalls along the way, to pick up your fresh fruit and vegetables, and the legendary Mozambican Peri-Peri sauce that’s for sale!
One of the best known venues in Ponta do Oura. This place most probably made R&R a household name. A lot of character with a historic/nostalgic history. Most probably the most well known bar/restaurant in Mozambique. Visiting this bar is a MUST!!
