We were craving some good Mexican food and a quick google search for the best Mexican food in Rotorua led us here...AND WE ENDED UP HAVING THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD WE HAVE EVER HAD!!! We were mind-blown by the atmosphere, hospitality and warm service. Everything about this place is just too perfect. The manager Mr. Eduardo Diaz, was extremely warm and friendly...the servers were cheerful and friendly, and the food was simply OUTSTANDING!! They have a lot of vegetarian options as well. We live in Wellington (about 6 hours away) and we come up to Rotorua once a year just after New Years. Every time we come, we make sure we come to this place at least twice in the 5 night stay. There are many reasons why I would say this restaurant is my favourite in NZ, the food is insane, you can order anything off the menu and you’re guaranteed it will be delicious. My favourite is the enchiladas though - definitely recommend the beef! Aside from the amazing food, the atmosphere is so fun, vibrant, and full of culture. They host salsa nights, and music nights, where the staff involve the customers in parts of their heritage. The staff are so welcoming and kind, and even in the midst of their busy schedules they will take the time to have a chat with you. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place more, if you want good quality food and an unreal experience, you’re going to love this restaurant!!! This is by far my favourite place to go in Rotorua! The food, service and atmosphere is second to none. It's not just about the food, the owner is so engaging and friendly, he makes you feel like you are visiting his home. We are sadly moving from Rotorua and this is going to be a place we are going to miss. Thank you to Eduardo and his lovely team for having us, we will 100% be coming back when we visit Rotorua!! Good atmosphere, great services, excellent food. The nachos was surprisingly packed with flavours, the tacos was fresh and tasty, the quesadilla is savoury and delicious. Nice size portions too. I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant. 10/10 the El Dip appetizers was nice and the mains were very delicious and authentic. We had the Tostaditos, which were top notch and the Pastel de Elote fish With pulled beef and pulled chicken with corn and pick de gallo salsa. Everything was wonderful. Go check them out. We loved stopping at El Mexicano zapata, it happened to be salsa night and the atmosphere was great! It’s a family owned business, the team were fab and the food was delicious! Wish we could have them in the UK. If you like spicy things, their spicy margs are fab! If you’re veggie - there’s loads of veggie options too. If we had only 1 meal in Rotorua, this will always be our place of choice 😍🍴 We've had the pleasure of dining with them since 2022 (after the lockdowns lifted) and each time we came back they've became busier & busier 😊 Despite that, their food quality and their service is TOP Notch ✨👌 We're always greeted with the pleasant sight of the boss lady passionately preparing everyone's meals & the boss man working his charms tending to tables💕 At the end of each meal, we always walk out with a full belly & a food coma 🤣 Thank you very much for all the fond memories! Wow! Wow! Wow! Superb experience all around. Warm welcome by the owner. Amazing food. The Best enchilada I ever sunk my teeth into. Sangria better then in Spain! And to top it all off amazing entertainment. If you come to Rotorua and not visit this place for a bite to eat you will be making big mistake. We went to El Mexicano for Sunday lunch and it was wonderful! We haven’t had authentic Mexican since arriving in New Zealand and they are definitely authentic! We had Chips and Guacamole(made fresh and delicious), chicken and beef fajitas, and the banana empanadas. We are only visiting Rotorua, but we will always come for at least one meal every time we visit from now on!
