They have everything. Fresh bread, pastries, fruits, vegetables and their meat selection is amazing. Friendly people, great vibe and atmosphere for grocery shopping. Lots of latin themed options.
I have never had a more unpleasant experience at a grocery store than I did this evening at Mercado Fresco on Metropolitan. I was shopping in this location with my husband, and noticed an employee following me around. Thinking she was stocking or doing other work, I ignored her presence and continued with my shopping. I had picked up a bottle of Coke Zero through the course of this, but put it back before arriving to the register.
Once at the register, the employee who kept following me appeared out of nowhere, whispering in the ear of the cashier who was assisting us. Unaware that I speak fluent Spanish, the employee then asked my husband if I was with him (despite the fact that we had spent more than 10 minutes walking together around the store in constant conversation), and if I had drank the Coke Zero and left it or otherwise stolen the merchandise. My husband, confused, told her that I had not, and had put it back. This employee kept staring at me, and went to check and see if I had in fact returned the merchandise.
Never in my life have I been treated so rudely, and nobody else deserves to experience what I did this evening.
PS.
Not everyone that speaks Spanish looks like they do.
Very nice selection of items you won't find in Hy-Vee or Price Chopper, but they have those items too, obviously. I love that they have real avocados not just those little baby ones you find in typical grocery stores here. The location is a little inconvenient/far but not overly so. I do wish they would add a location in the Overland Park, Lenexa or Olathe area. The only real issue is they have outgrown the location... the isles are tight and the checkout area is cramped. That can be problematic when they are busy, which is frequently.
Their tortillas they make are bomb. They carry the brand Sarita (rice) is my favorite. It's hard to find , they have it and multiple sizes. There's so many amazing selections in sauces seasonings and evertthing you could think of here. They have tacos and ice cream out front as well. All their food is DELICIOUS , you must try , you will not be disappointed.
OMG. I've never been to a Hispanic grocery store. Decided I'd go with the wife as she wanted to make Pozole.
This place is amazing! It's super crowded and tight spaces but wow. They have so many cool things (I don't even know what most of them are). I had a blast just walking through and looking at everything.
Great meat counter, good prices, TONS of Hispanic candies and sweets.
Excellent selection of Hispanic as well as general American groceries. It's small and tight, which is a little disconcerting during COVID, but as long as all shoppers are responsible, it works. Excellent produce, meat and bakery selections. Especially considering how small it is! They are doing a good job of managing safety amidst the pandemic. They have ample parking in their lot, including accessible parking and entrance.
Owner was courteous and friendly. Not so the employees. Non Hispanics are not welcome. Although I see things I would like to try in their ads, my daughter and I have never gone back.
My family loves El Mercado Fresco. Every time we come visit my extended family in Argentine we stop by and get some groceries. They have lots of mexican products other stores do not carry where we live in Gladstone, Missouri. Great selection of mexican products and more. 💓
