I returned last night to this El Fenix restaurant, which was an old favorite of mine back when I lived in this neighborhood. At around 8:30 PM on a Monday night, we were the only couple in the place! The staff was super friendly, and I had a great conversation with our waiter, who provided excellent service. He was above and beyond generous with me, because, not only was it my birthday last night, but he is just a very nice person. The food was perfect TexMex fare, For a very affordable price. Great food. It is hard to find good enchiladas here in Texas. I am from Georgia where the Mexican food is completely different. You don't see cheddar cheese on or in anything in Georgia. El Fenix is the soul of consistency. Been coming here for 30 years. Food is exceptional. Best cheese enchiladas you can get … anywhere. Service and ambience is super. Server today is Manuel.
