I visited after 10 o’clock on a Thursday night. It wasn’t busy but there were other customers in the store. I ordered the Chunky Street hot dog. It was ready quickly and I paired it with a Dr Pepper. It was sizable, and the combination of flavors was amazing. I would have enjoyed more jalapeños and grilled onion on it (not because they didn’t put enough, just my personal preference). The 9inchers were okay, not the best, yet not the worst. The wait was as long as their 9inchers... a bit long. Customer service is great! The feller seems very patient and friendly. The location was a bit small, but it made up for it with a big flavor. I had the Nachodog with hot cheetoes, and it was so great. I also had the loaded nachos, and they were just as good. It may seem a bit high in price, but with prices now, it was still pretty fair. Worth it! Nice little hot dog shop. Old school feel but with modern style menu. Was hoping for better. Food was appealing to look at but I was not impressed with flavor. Ordered curly cheese and bacon fries and got regular plain fries with melted cheese and bacon bit. Vegetarian Nachos were soggy and again not much flavor. I CANNOT recommend this place enough. My husband and I were on an anniversary trip to San Antonio and stumbled across El Chunky and OH MY GOODNESS!! We live 6 hours away from San Antonio and I’m already planning our next trip back because of this place right here!! The food is absolutely amazing and it’s nothing like I’ve ever had before! The hot dogs are not your average grocery store hot dog, they are a million times better! The fries are crisp in all the right places, and the cheese on the fries are BOMB! Excellent hot dogs. The frank is large and beefy, with a nice snap to it. The bun is also very good quality. I asked for a fork, but never needed it: my loaded hot dog held together nicely until the last bite.The loaded fries are really cheesy. Indoor seating is minimal, just a bar around the perimeter of the store. More seating in the patio outside. Friendly, helpful staff. The food was delicious! The alambre quesadilla was amazing. We had the fajita chunky hot dog also. Super tasty. Their salsas were just as tasty. We went the day before Mexican Independence Day so they had a special salsa they were going to debut and it was the first salsa we finished after fighting over it. The atmosphere was super chill. Fantastic dogs! 🌭 Good size, excellent presentation, and satisfying taste. The corn in the cup was pretty good as well. The establishment is small but has a nice retro theme. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors with a patio. There is however a bit of a wait time, but the dogs comes out fresh. Would definitely recommend checking them out!
