Eggcentric was recommended to us by our local boat captain as the ultimate Kiwi food and I’m so glad we went. The lemon cream fish was the best fish I’ve ever had! It has the x factor. Food and coffee was great but what makes the place special is the garden and the butterfly tree! Walking in there are monarch butterflies fluttering around in abundance with a tree full of caterpillars (we visited in summer). There is also a trampoline and a small playground. Cute stop after a hike up to mercury Bay Lookout. Bacon and egg pie and turmeric, passion and chia pudding both delicious. Hot chocolate and ice black coffee hit the spot. When we first rode past on our scooters we didn't think much of it and almost left. But then we decided to give it a go anyway and were pleasantly surprised at the quirky , interesting decor. The tables randomly spread across the garden adds to the fun. We enjoyed our meals and the delicious combination of flavours. A great little place to visit. Nice little cafe tucked back in the trees off the road with an eclectic mix of ornaments and artwork both inside and in the garden. Nice rustic spot, Coffee could have been hotter and the food while looked good was cold, can only assume it was left too long on the plates before delivering to the table. Not busy so no excuse. This place is like a little utopia of amazing food, friendly service and beautiful spots to sit and watch the flowers and bees! There’s really not much in the area so we were surprised to visit this hidden gem! Not to be missed! Really good coffee.
