Food is amazing, the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is the bathrooms are very outdated. One single ladies and one single gentlemans bathroom. The floors are so sticky and gross. That is my only gripe. The service is great, lots to look at around the restaurant. Would go here again. I love diners and perhaps I do because my first diner was the Dixie Diner when I was a kid. They consistently have the best hot dogs and navy beans anywhere. One dish that used to be on the regular menu but is now only on their specials menu was the open face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy . I will always order that whenever it's on the board . My other go to for breakfast is grits and greens . All of their food is absolutely delicious! Great southern food. Good sweet tea. Great banana pudding. One of our family’s favorite restaurants, we make a point to go here when visiting or traveling through Petersburg. The grill cheese is one of the best I’ve ever had and our son loves it. The fries are tempura style fries which I like. Went in for breakfast around 9am and it was definitely packed. We decided to take seats at the counter and had a great time talking with the other customers. The entire staff was in holiday attire so it made it feel special, especially the green Christmas suit🤣. The food was perfect I had the Dixie scramble which I will probably get every time I come here. I got it with home fries and a corn cake and all of it was perfect. The others in my party had French toast and waffles and they loved it as well. While sitting there I did see them make a few chili dogs and from the smell I'll be back to try those as well.
