I would not give this donut shop one star, but that was the only way I could write the review. Stopped in on New Year’s Eve to pick. You can clearly could tell that they had been out for a few day but we had a carving for donuts so my husband and I brought a dozen donuts. When we got to the car we realized they had no glaze and were stale, so we returned them. The lady working the cash register informed us that they do not take refunds only exchanges. We told her that we were just strictly interested in getting our money back. She said she couldn’t do it so she called her manager. Her manager at first refused to refund us our money. Finally agreed to refund us our money because it was New Year’s Eve…and told us to never come to her business again….really!!!!.
This is a good place if you want an old fashioned kind of donut. I went in during the early afternoon. What do you know? They had what I wanted—a "Chocolate Old Fashion", and it tasted good to me! And fresh, too. Usually when I go into a donut shop—even in the morning—they are out of Chocolate Old Fashions. I asked the friendly woman behind the counter if they made them in the back. She said they make them off-site, and bring more around when they are running low. Next time I want my favorite donut—I know who most probably will have what I want.

Old fashioned Donut shop, huge selection. Best buttermilk donuts ever! Not fancy or innovative, just consistently good donuts. C'mon you know you want one right now! How about a filled maple bar, or an ube cake donut? Perhaps a light and airy glazed or cruller? Damn it now I wanna go!

I download produce on Sunday mornings to Montclair farmers market and ALWAYS stop for donuts before I head to Temescal. Fresh, warm, reasonably priced, and staff soooo friendly. Highly recommend.

The ladies who work here in the mornings are really nice and patient. There Hazelnut coffee is the best. Original hazelnut not just flavored. Also, there strawberry cream cheese is amazing, A lot of times its sold out.
Cute location, nice lady running the place by herself today. Had the ham and cheese crissont, apple juice, ube with crumbs donut and the maple. All yummy.

Been a fan of colonial my entire life, both this location and the one near Lake Merritt. But WOW. I am now their DEVOTEE! I've always loved their classic Raised and Old Fashioned. But today (Friday), I had to meet their new card minimum. Boy, am I glad there's that card minimum. Colonial has introduced new Mochi donuts, available only Fri-Sun. Made of a succulent and ooey-gooey rice-based paste, the donuts are just as pull-apart delicious as the standard donuts but with more body. I went with the passionfruit glazed, and wow. WOW. I'M GETTING MOCHI EVERY SINGLE TIME NOW!
The donuts are the best I've tasted in a long time. I watch the lady go from cleaning the floor rinse her hands a few seconds, then pick up my donut without using gloves. It's a turn off

Good selection of donuts at good prices. Fast, friendly service, patient when kids (and adults) are indecisive. Often a line of a couple people. Lottery outlet too.
