Incredible food and service! Met one of the owners, Lynda, who was super kind and personable!! The Long Island clam chowder is THE BEST CHOWDER I've ever had! 😋 The cherrystone clams and Blue Point oysters were delicious and shucked well!! Such a cute and charming maritime ambiance by the water. Lovely experience! Will definitely be back!!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!!!! Nice little place that was built in 1947. It has that kind of charming vibe. The Long Island chowder is a mix of new England and Manhattan styles and is possibly the best clam chowder I've ever had. The shrimp and flounder are not overly spiced which allows the breading and obviously fresh seafood flavors to shine through. The hot apple crisp with icecream was a treat. Highly recommended. A hidden gem on Long Island. Everyone should know this place by now. Don't know where to start? Read the menu entirely, and you will know that the chowder soups are the best. Do not skip these soups. You'll want a bowl, not a cup, and even then, you'll be asking for seconds. Don't sleep on the seafood bisque either. Definitely buy some to take home. The appetizers were a bit small, but with the prices of everything these days, you get what you paid for. The crab cakes were delicious and full of crab while other places go heavy on the breading instead. We ended up having the shrimp boat, shrimp po boy, blackened catfish tacos and shrimp salad. Everything was flavorful. Big portions as well. I do believe they are closed for the month of February but I will be going back myself when it opens in March. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Used to be my favorite restaurant. Not anymore. I called the owner the next day to let her know my experience. She didn't seem to care at all. Definitely will NOT be returning! Thank you for your response, however in your response you only refer to one of the issues I mentioned when I called you on the telephone. During our phone conversation you stated it was NOT a busy time when we were dining at your restaurant. In your response you did NOT mention any of the following: 1) The terrible service we received at our table: the waitress never introduced herself, never mentioned the specials, never followed up during our meal to see if we needed anything else, ie drinks, dessert, or how everything is, nothing. 2) Why it took so long for our appetizers? The garlic and wine mussels were not hot on top and the fried calamari was a little chewy. My dad did love his New England Clam chowder. 3) When my husband asked for a Heineken, our waitress delivered it to another table (my husband heard that diner tell the waitress he did not order it). She brought it back to the bar. Then my husband had to ask her where is his Heineken? 4) Why, after waiting for a while, why I had to move our appetizer dishes off of our table to the empty table next to us because none of your staff did it. 5) When we asked the waitress for another diet coke with lemon for my dad, why did she have to take the glass with diet coke and a lemon that he was still drinking from? She should have just brought him a new glass of diet coke with a new lemon and a new straw. Instead, she refills his existing glass and returns it to him with his original straw, As I told you on the phone, your restaurant used to be my favorite, but not anymore. The waitstaff, service and food WAS always terrific!!!! When I called your restaurant, I told you I was giving you the courtesy of calling you first, before posting a review, to let you know about our most recent experience, In my opinion you came across as not caring at all about my concerns. You did not even offer an apology (not that you did anything wrong). On a positive note, the beer battered fish and chips was delicious.

Before our ferry to Fire Island, a relative recommended that we grab lunch at Chowder Bar, a fanciful and nautical restaurant that serves appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, fried boats, seafood entrees, and desserts. You can sit wherever you like. In the inner dining room, there is an under the sea mural with decorative clocks, paddles, and lanterns hanging on the wall. The staff were friendly and clarified any questions we had. We started our meal with a pitcher of Blue Point Summer Ale and a chilled mug of homemade Lemonade garnished with a lemon wedge. For our first course, we had soups - three of us had the New England Clam Chowder and one of us had the Seafood Bisque. The soup was thick, rich, creamy and tasty. It came with oyster crackers. For our main course, we shared the Fish Burger, Fishwich, Linguine with White Clam Sauce, and a large portion of Vegetable Du Jour. The Fish Burger consisted of fried flounder fillet, tomato, and lettuce on a toasted sesame bun served with tartar sauce and lemon. The Fishwich consisted of fried flounder fillet, tartar sauce, and melted cheddar cheese in between pan fried toast. It was a great twist to a grilled cheese sandwich. The Linguine with White Clam Sauce consisted of linguine topped with garlic, herbs, grated cheese, and littleneck clams. It was garlicky delicious. The Vegetable Du Jour consisted of zucchini, summer squash, and green beans cooked with butter. By the time we finished our meal, we did not save room for their homemade desserts (e.g., ice cream, fried ice cream, warm brownie sundae, apple crisp, key lime pie, and carrot cake).

Tasty food in a cool spot right by the water. Their clam chowder was EXCELLENT - the name suits them well! Kid-friendly, and our kids enjoyed all the decor (and wanted a picture with the “pirate wheel”). Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30
