Great coffee and snacks. It’s hard to get a seat because there are only a few, and people camp out with their laptops for hours. The best part is that the cafe is inside a wonderful independent bookstore.

It’s the best for coffee and pastries, the lemon bar has ruined me for all other lemon bars. The toffee cookie was going through some rough patches for a while after they did some retooling, but it’s now back to the top shelf. 🍪👍🏽

A cozy and charming coffee shop inside a local bookstore that enhances the pleasure of book browsing in Somerville.
This spot first caught my attention while I was looking for a cup of hot chocolate in the area. The Aztec hot chocolate, which seemed to be their popular menu, was nice and smooth.
On a subsequent visit, I tried their chai latte and blueberry crumble. The chai latte, mild in its spiced flavors, provided a soothing contrast to the blueberry crumble, which was pleasantly not too sweet. I also enjoyed the ambiance, which embodied the causal, hip vibe of Somerville.
Overall, Cafe Zing's experience aligns well with what you might expect from a bookstore coffee shop – good enough to complement your reading experience without being a destination in itself.

Good coffee and hot chocolate, tasty pastries from a variety of local bakeries (including bargain bags of day-olds), and of course, you're surrounded by books! Whenever I happen to be nearby in the morning, I drop in here for a quick takeout breakfast.
