We were anxious once we sat down. Heavily tanned old krauts in shorts were dotted about on their own, all loudly coughing up phlegm so that the sounds ricocheted all around us (charming, not). They reminded us of Eddie in “To Have and Have Not” but with lots of mucus and not as fit.
The place was shabby but clean. Located on a corner opposite playing fields, right on a busy road, so we were treated to frequent noise and fumes. A motorcycle parked right next to our table blew petrol fumes at us, as its motor was noisily gunned.
Service was by an ex-bar girl (complete with that typically over-friendly, somewhat abrasive, attitude) in shorts and sneakers. Food came quickly and was home cooked and good. Excellent mixed salad, the best we had this trip, with a lovely toasted sesame dressing drizzled on top.
A big portion of a good Bolognese was served on top of al dente spaghetti. A large pork chop took longer and arrived when the Bolognese was half finished. It was nicely cooked but a bit tough in some parts.
More leathery old krauts joined each other over the next hour. Some were gleefully blowing cigarette smoke our way (we felt fortunate it came out only at the top). One repeatedly snorted, trying to clear sinuses. You had to give them respect for not dragging the usual Thai “carer” ladies with them, though. It did mean, however, that no other couples were here, leaving one of us the only female customer.
As we left, a 4th joined the owner’s table (by itself on a raised platform), perhaps for a poker game?

Fantastique petit restaurant tenu par un couple Thaï Suisse. On y mange de bonne recettes Suisses ainsi que la fondue Suisse et la raclette. Il y a aussi de bons plats Thaï.
Je recommande et reviendrai souvent. Merci.
Nous y allons toutes les semaines avec les copains de pétanque pour y prendre un verre et "refaire le match" ! Ambiance très sympa, accueil chaleureux... Que demander de plus?
