Walked in to “Box Car Betty’s” for the first time and had the idea of loaded fries. Seeing that they didn’t have any made me ask the question creating my own. Well a 5min conversation of what that looked like adding in the helpfulness of the staff. We created the picture you see on my review. Chicken breast (cut up) on top of fries w/ spicy mayo, ranch and with some of the best pimento cheese I’ve ever tasted. We created a masterpiece! 10/10 P.s. Outstanding spot! Tried both their classic and spicy chicken sandwich options, and both were fantastic - delicious, juicy chicken, and a terrific mix of sauces and other ingredients all helped to make these some of the better fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Lots of tasty side options, as well - the fried pickles were choice. Would definitely come back here. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30

We had an issue with our meal and Kris (Chris?) the GM made it right without question. We have had dozens of great meals from here but when things go wrong is when service truly shows itself and I appreciated they made it more than right. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One of the better chicken sandwiches I've ever had, the sandwich was cooked 2perfection juicy seasoned well and fall of the bone texture. The 🍟 were done just right with light salt. Customer service was on par great experience 4 me. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

First time eating here and I am not impressed especially at $20 for a dry chicken sandwich. I paid extra for spicy mayo & buffalo (which they put on the sandwich) You have to pay for EVERY topping!! It does not even come with the basic condiments like mayo, mustard or ketchup. I requested 2 sauces, cheese and onion. The sauce looked barely there and the dryness of the sandwich proved that. The onions are diced *😒 who does that! The chicken it self didn't have much taste. At $19.79 I thought this would be the best chicken sandwich I ever tasted. ( Not at all worth the $$) and if you're big on topping (yk the usual stuff ppl want on a "burger") oh you're gonna pay $$$ lol. I went from excited to disappointed. However, the fried pickles are amazing!! Best part of my meal. Doesn't make up for the fact that this is an award winning chicken spot and that didn't come close to true from my experience. And yes, I know the chicken is antibiotic free and everything is biodegradable. But I expected awesome food as promised! Not delivered! This is a South Carolina chain restaurant that serves chicken sandwiches. Personally this place would be considered a Five Guys and Chick Fil-A would be In-N-Out. I make this comparison because here you get the option to really customize your meals with are a lot more topping and sauce options. The dining area is nothing to be amazed and just looks like it’s missing something in their wall decor with all the blank space on the chalk board. I came in for lunch on a weekday and they were already sold out of grilled chicken, which is fine since I prefer crispy chicken. I ended up ordering the box car crispy chicken sandwich with added Swiss cheese and a order of sweet potato fries. The sandwich was tasty but a lot of the crisp was not there. I would say more than half of crispy chicken was soggy breading. I would not recommend the sweet potato fries unless you’re expecting a dessert since it is really sweet. I enjoyed it but it didn’t really go well with eating it with my sandwich. I would come back if friends or coworkers picked to come here but I personally would not come seeking to return. You don’t go to the restaurant for the atmosphere. You go for some of the best chicken I’ve ever had!! The breading is flavored perfectly, cooked for the perfect amount of time and best flavor I’ve had in a LONG time. The fries are seasoned and fried perfectly so none of them were soft or soggy. I love the buffalo sauce and blue cheese for dipping. And they appear homemade. An absolute must if you’re in town.
