This is my FAVORITE sushi place in KC. Better than Sushi Uni. The Cherry Bomb and Everything Salmon are 4 great pieces of sushi on crispy lightly fried rice. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Sushi

What a wonderful experience. We had a big group and we’re treated wonderfully by our server Lesly. The food was some of the best sushi I have ever had and the recommendation of the staff for little tips and tricks on the menu was great. Food: 5
I went at their happy hour and the food is really delicious. I didn’t realize when ordering it everything I got was spicy and I couldn’t find many raw options that weren’t spicy. Don’t get me wrong, it was all delicious but I desired some additional options to balance out the spice. I’m not a huge fan of cream cheese so finding options that aren’t spicy and without cream cheese can be challenging. I had the Cherry Bomb, Spicy Gringo and Yellowtail Serrano sashimi. We're out-of-towners (STL) but we went to Blue Sushi Sake Grill on a mini-vacation to KC in July. Every once in a while we'll say we should go back to KC just so we can go to Blue Sushi again. We're far from sushi aficionados but we have tried a lot of places. Blue Sushi Sake Grill is our favorite. The Happy Hour was a great deal! We ordered a lot of food and were surprised at how low the bill was. I can't remember exactly what we ordered but I know that the ceviche was delicious and the sushi in the photos were melt-in-your-mouth and had a perfect balance of flavors. We also loved the vibe of the restaurant. We sat at the sushi counter because I love watching the chefs crank out the rolls. They had about 8 people behind the counter cranking out rolls. It was clear that the team was cohesive. 10/10 would drive 4 hours to KC just to eat here again. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Sushi

My family and I have loved Blue Sushi Sake for years. We always bring our friends here when we go on double dates. We come here when family or friends visit from out of town. We must’ve eaten at this restaurant several dozen times in the past two and a half years. We love the food so much that we even stayed loyal and gave them another chance when they fell out of good standing with the Health Department after an inspection a little over a year ago. With all of that being said, I have to take a moment to express my extreme disappointment over the way Blue Sushi has gone downhill in the last 6 months. We’ve had THREE occasions where we’re dining for dinner with friends/family and it takes over an hour and a half to get our food. I will say that they offer free appetizers while we wait every time this happens, but to have that awful of an experience more than once is just unacceptable. It feels as though they’ve decided that they’ll just be an hour and a half behind on weekends and that there’s no need to actually fix the issue. The manager is incredible and is always very apologetic, but as I said, it’s really not okay to wait over an hour and a half to get your food on a regular basis. The last time we dined there, we went and told our waiter that we wanted the bill for our drinks because it had been almost two hours since we ordered and we wanted to leave. We waited 15 more minutes for him to bring our bill and he instead showed up with our food with absolutely no mention of the fact that we stated that we wanted to leave. My final gripe with Blue Sushi is that they recently decided to raise their prices a considerable amount. I love the sushi here, but in no way do I think I should be paying $17 for their rolls. I’m so let down because this is truly one of my favorite restaurants in the KC metro. I would’ve been willing to deal with the issue of waiting a long time if it weren’t for the fact that they’ve also raised their prices. The service, tastes, and atmosphere were all top-notch at Blue Sushi Sake Grill. I truly appreciated the attention to my request for plantbased Whole Food approach to Sushi They enthusiastcally substituted whole food cucumber for high glycemic rice in the sushi rolls. Really made me feel respected, right at home and deeply appreciated. I loved the gekkaikan sake, and miso soup in addition to the sushi rolls and cucumber salad we enjoyed. To good taste and optimal health! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Sushi

I cannot recommend this place enough! I have a dairy allergy so being able to get a vegan Philly roll is such a treat, I’m not vegan but I always have to try their vegan selection’s because they are so good and unique. They have lots of special items that you don’t see at your typical sushi restaurant . The best thing that we had was the seared salmon belly and to be honest it’s one of the best pieces of sashimi I’ve ever tried. We will definitely be coming back Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Recommended dishes Sushi
Food was good but the portion sizes are mediocre. The seaweed salad had actual lettuce in it. It took away from the taste and needed soy sauce to bring out the flavor. The service was also mediocre. We went on a Monday and still had to wait to be seated in a sparsely filled restaurant due to not having a reservation. (What?) The server didn't bring us starter plates, no soy sauce on the table and I had to ask for a straw. He didn't offer any suggestions even when he knew it was my first time there. Our server Chance made it a great one. He was very kind and informative of the menu and explained it in great detail. He let us know that ordering a specific roll(Hawaiian Roll) will come out at a different time due to being made in a different kitchen. We came at Happy Hour and it is a great time to go. We had so much food and it all was at a great price! I had the vibrant Dragon Fruit Lemonade, Mango Crab Rangoon, Charred Edamame, Tidal Wave & Crunchy Blue, Hawaiian Roll, and the Crunchy L.A. The food was amazing and I was stuffed and did not leave room for dessert but will have to stop by again to try even more!

Love this place! It has a wonderful atmosphere and it's very fun to dine-in. Food is always great, and they have a very large and creative vegan-friendly sushi roll section. I always order the Brussels Sprouts appetizer and can be persuaded to share with others. The cowgirl sushi roll is one of the weirdest but also best rolls I've ever had, ever! The food comes out quickly and you can always add more things as you go.
