We live in the Portland area and my wife really loves this place. Everytime we are near she forces me to detour so she can shop. I don't know what she buys, but apparently it's things she can't get at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in Portland. She's really picky about what she buys food and spice wise so it must be really good!
Love it! I am a coop owner and get a discount on things because of that. The prices can be a bit high but that is the nature of a small independent coop. The selection and quality products make it worth it. Great place to grab lunch or coffee. Has a nice cafe and seating area inside and out.
Beautiful store with delightful staff and some unique items. I buy a lot of organic produce and products and I don't kind paying a premium for them. However, this is one of the most expensive grocery stores I've ever been to. A striking example is bell peppers at over $8 per pound. Compare that to Tradewinds just down the street, their bell peppers of the same color is under $2 a pound. To be fair, most items are not 4 times more expensive than other stores but they are priced significantly higher. Quality is not always the best either: an onion was half rotten when I sliced it open on the same day I purchased it. Also, there are some puzzling product misses like hemp milk. Overall it's a good store--just a bit disappointing.
Wow! Used to love this place, now my experience gets worse with every visit. I went the other morning for a breakfast sandwich— I arrived at their cafe around 9:45 knowing they stop serving breakfast at 10:00. I got in line behind the lady in front of me, (the only other person in line,) and patiently waited while she had a five minute conversation with the cashier before ordering her breakfast sandwich. This was no problem, I wasn’t in a rush and I appreciate when staff & customers have good relationships. What got me, is when it was my turn to order at 9:50, I tried to order a singular breakfast sandwich to which I was snootily told breakfast was over & no more sandwiches could be made. As someone who works in the food industry myself, I know it can be irritating when someone orders food right before you close. However, the cafe was not closing, they were merely shifting menus for lunch and according to their hours, I had ten minutes left before that menu shift. Recently, I have found the staff in general to be routinely unpleasant, especially after I tell them I do not have a Co op membership. I live on MDI, I don’t frequent enough to be a member. I really hope things improve, I will be sad to not return.
I am regular customer and part co-op owner. I have tried to buy regular blueberry muffins for the past 3 weeks. 2 weeks ago, I visited 6 days in a row and no blueberry muffins.
Twice I have spoken to a cafe staff and was told they would pass along a message to the head baker, and still no muffins with sugar. They used to be available 2-3 times a week.
Is that it ? I have also left a message in the suggestion box,
and never received a reply.
Very disappointed with the response- its not a request that is out of the ordinary.

Thank you for getting back to me. I think the confusion might be me seeing sugar cane crossed off at the top of the ingredient list.
I will try again this week and look for maple syrup listed on the ingredients. I had no idea this was an either/or.

I finally found a blueberry muffin ( with maple syrup) and it was delicious! Now I know what to look for in the ingredients.

I can't say enough great things about this market and the enormous selection of healthy & specialty foods. It has everything I need, some items cost less than when ordering online. You can eat in or take out, coffee, sandwiches & salads are great.
A nice supermarket with a great coffee bar inside that includes indoor and outdoor seating. We stopped there to get some coffee, it was very good. The coffee bar also has some beers on tap and chilled wines in a cooler. We would go there again.
