My wife and I just had lunch here. Luckily, we beat the lunch rush line to order our food. We ordered the brisket plate, which is the meat and two sides. The two gentlemen behind the counter were working feverishly on to-go orders when we arrived.
When it was our turn, our helper, once we gave him our order, said he would give us a mixed serving, some fatty, some not. He sliced up a fresh brisket for our order. We added potato salad and coleslaw as our sides.
We have eaten BBQ all over the U.S. over the years. The brisket here was outstanding. It is as good, if not better, than the brisket we have eaten in the Kansas City area! Great smoke ring, juicy, and literally melted in our mouths. There are two sauces at the condiment counter, mild and hot. Both were delicious, and the hot sauce was just slightly hot.
The potato salad was creamy, and had great flavor. The coleslaw had some horseradish in it, which was just enough to make it interesting. We are not finely chopped coleslaw lovers, so for us, the consistency of the coleslaw was a problem. But that's just our personal taste, it still was good coleslaw. We are trying the cornbread on our next visit.
The only negative I could bring up is the ordering area is pretty small, and was very congested when we tried to empty our serving tray and leave, as there was a long line of people we had to maneuver through to get out.
Despite that one small negative, we have a new first, and now only, choice for brisket in Madison.

Great employees and food brisket is bomb. Sauces good, rub on meat is ok. Definitely best brisket in Madison by far. Worth the price. Personally like the sides and I stick to baked beans and Mac n cheese.
