One of my favourite restaurants in the algarve. The food is done so well, and the setting outside is stunning, a great way to spend an evening, it really feels special. Having the owner show us how they make the crepe Suzette was a beautiful bonus too! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €50+

Authentic, traditional 40 year old family restaurant. Grand reception, from no less than 6 of our hosts. A strong fish menu offering. Cover of sardine that is delicious and pate. I chose octopus carpachio and avocado 🥑 followed by sole with prawns. Dessert, again good choice, concluded with creme brulee and complimentary port. Extensive wine menu too. Amazing food and amazing service. Wine was lovely, same with the food. Many people but didn't sound too loud, a lovely atmosphere. Drinks refilled when finished, from water to wine. very disappointing. Lovely setting but food was very medicocre and ove priced!! overall menu choice limited . Staff polite and pleasant but very young and inexperienced. Sorry can’t recommend this restaurant. will not return. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I had my doubts over Alambique before visiting as I had heard (and read) mixed reviews. I was expecting stuffy & expensive with pretentious food & obnoxious staff but experienced NONE of this. The atmosphere is relaxed with beautiful surroundings and soft music. The menu is very well put together and there are several options I would have happily ordered. I ended up having garlic Prawns to start and minted Lamb chops as my main. The lambs chops were melt in the mouth delicious and the portion was generous. The partner had the Prawn avocado salad to start and the Seabass for her main and she was delighted with both dishes. We had 2 waitresses who were both very sweet and took care of our every need during our meal. The bill for 2 of us was around €175 including service which I consider reasonable for the experience, service and quality of food. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €50+

5 star restaurant that is trying it's hardest to be 1 star. Note that it probably is an amazing restaurant for British foreigners with time to spare and don't know the abcs of Portuguese cuisine. Service was super slow, the entrées were not an adequate or harmonious dish. It was pico de gallo with a fried sardine and out of shelf jar mayo and a paté. None of the flavours mixed. Then the grilled flounder came floating in butter sauce and with mayo on the side. This completely ruined the fish and its flavours. Then the creme burlé felt like I was eating sweet oats for toddlers. And the kicker the coffee Delta (the best in Portugal) came completely burnt. This all with a very high price tag is completely inadmissible in my opinion. Yes the ambience is fantastic but that's about it. The employees were good, cordious and polite but not quite on the 5 star level. The chairs were not very comfortable either even with the pillow they have. One big disappointment of experience.
