We were in Malmö for a few hours during a trip to neighbouring Denmark and we wanted to enjoy some local cuisine close to the station for our return train back to Copenhagen. A stunning bistro, just a few minutes walk from Malmö Central station, we visited without a reservation but were warmly greeted and sat at the bar. The wine list was extensive and had we been staying for longer we would have enjoyed a few glasses but instead opted for a locally brewed beer. The menu featured a wide array of dishes but we came for one thing; Köttbulle (meatballs) served in a cream sauce with velvet mashed potatoes, pickled cucumber and lingonberries. The dish was perfect and we would make the trip again just for this alone. Desert was a delicious and delicate clafoutis and we shared some of the pistachio and almond cake. It was sublime. Om inte maten är god eller om sällskapet är tråkigt, kan man roa sig med att titta på alla fina bilder av filmstjärnor, musiker och gamla världsledare. Dock var mitt sällskap denna gången alldeles ypperligt och min Kalvlever utsökt. Måste dock ge ett minus för akustiken. Inredningen är vacker och jag förstår att man inte vill förstöra den med akustikplattor men det är nästan omöjligt att ha en konversation i denna lokal när folk skriker till varandra för att överrösta bordsgrannarna. Well-cooked menu of classics with a Swedish touch. French brasserie classics like steak minute and Crème brûlée sits next to Swedish classics like shrimp toast (toast skagen), meatballs and tenderloin with cubed potatoes (biff rydberg). Some dishes are excellent while others are not perfectly executed, for example the tenderloin was not tender at all. On the minus side, the oblong dining hall is noisy and seating is limited to 90 min which is precisely enough to enjoy three servings.
