Had lunch recently at Shell Beach Cafe - Ahi tuna on a Caesar salad was good, spouses shrimp tacos were good, but neither were outstanding. I love this place! This is my usual stop-off point midway between San Jose and Los Angeles when I need some good food and maybe a beer. The salads are outstanding and the portions are perfectly fine, even for a bigger guy like me. I've had the hamburger here at least once and it was great as well. The beer selection is simply hard to beat. I've fallen head over heels for the Monterey Street pale ale from Central Coast brewing, which I've subsequently found out is not easy to find, and kind of pricey. The service has been outstanding and the bartenders are quick and pleasant. 1st. Timer. Business trip. Great spot that is open to 9:00pm. Watch NFL. Beer on tap. Food was good bar food. Parking lot next door. Easy drive from Avila Beach. Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Stopped by after a Pismo Preserve hike to refuel. Everything was absolutely delicious! My husband and I shared a French dip & a BBQ burger. They were both hot, fresh, & amazing. Their fries are some of the best around! We got a PB stout also, which was also very good. Awesome service, great views, and well-maintained establishment. Highly recommend!
